Hey Tim (et al), Can't message people or post in the forums right now due to my status, so I hope you see this....just want to say "Thank You' for being such a great host(s) and allowing us all to invade that gorgeous 'country getaway' of yours. It is absolutely beautiful but what was most beautiful, absoulutely awesome, was all of the CM'ers that participated...I am so glad I decided to attend! Of course it meant putting off (again!) scraping and painting my house but hey, maybe there is a future CM event in that - a BYOB (bring your own brush) haha. Anyway, I know there are many of you Indy people that planned, prepared and hosted this wonderful event - thanks to all of you for your time, patience, and various other gifts that you shared. God love ya'! (Tim, there is a really cute photo of you and your lovely Regina in my facebook (CM) album. I have a few in my profile here but I don't think that is one of them).

As I reflect on what a wonderful weekend I had at the farm, I feel truly blessed to have met some absolutely fantastic people through Catholic Match! I thank God for bringing these people into my life, for they have enriched it beyond measure! I have been a member of CM for 6 years and have attended quite a few CM events as well as hosting the farm outing the last 3 years. Everywhere I've gone, I've been welcomed and felt at home with my Catholic brothers & sisters. As a single man who just turned 50 and whose kids have been out of the house for 3 years, I've turned to my CM friends to help me through the rough patches over the years. God put you in my life for a purpose, and I am thankful for each and everyone of you! I have grown in my faith as well! ...and the dating portion of this site is working for me too! I met Regina through CM and am determined to become a success story someday! My subscription is up this Saturday and I will be taking a break from CM after 6 years on here. In closing, I'd like to thank CM for bringing so many wonderful people into my life! Stay open to the possibilities, LDR's included, and don't be afraid to take a chance! Follow the path God has put you on for He will lead you to many wonderous things! Peace and Blessings my friends.

I have a plan! If everyone brings a rain poncho - that should pretty much guarantee that it WON'T rain, right? Work with me, folks!

Again, EVERYONE should remember to bring.....

warm layers of clothes (scarves, gloves or mittens, a hat or ear wraps, extra socks, and extra shoes),

ear plugs (optional, but the crickets and night sounds can seem really loud),

your own bedding (air mattress, sleeping bag and pillow unless we've arranged otherwise),

personal items and toiletries including towels and wash cloths (there is a clothesline to hang these on to dry during the day),

outdoors chair,

flashlight and batteries,

camera

sun block and bug spray,

your pitch-in food items toward our meals,

your own drinks - BYOB.

Optional to bring: pumpkin (contest), rosary (Noon Saturday), non-perishable food donation for the Food Drive at church, and if you play a musical instrument please feel free to bring i and share your talents. We'll enjoy a singalong around the campfire.

OTHER IMPORTANT IMFORMATION -

1. NO PETS ALLOWED. Several of you have inquired, and even tho Tim and I both own dogs and would love to have them there with us - a 'no animals' rule is necessary for the comfort of all attendees and the safety of your pet. Thanks for understanding.

2. LIABILITY WAIVER: Everyone is required to sign a liability waiver upon check in. With several hiking trails in the woods, shooting range, two lakes, zip line, and various other activities, it is important that everyone understand YOU PERSONALLY assume all liabilities for your own safety. We ask everyone to use common sense, care, and courtesy during this weekend on Tim's property. Thank you.

3. SHOOTING: There will be 4 specific times the range is open - Fri 6-7pm, Sat 10-11am and 5:00-6:30pm, and Sun 10:30-11:30am. There will be a sign up sheet at check in to choose which time slot you'd like to be on the range. We'll try to have equal numbers in each time slot - to give everyone a chance to participate if

YOU need to arrange your ride to Indy from Chicago (I suggested Megabus, another member is coming from there on the bus arriving at 1:15pm Friday and we can arrange to get you from the INDY bus stop to the farm on Friday IF you are on that bus.) Then YOU need to arrange your ride back home to Kansas City. We MIGHT have a member who can get you as far as St. Louis on Sunday night but we do not know that for sure yet so don't count on it. IF they can help you out I'll ask them to get directly in touch with you. BUT you'd need to arrange to get the rest of the way home even IF we can get you to St. Louis. Pls check bus, plane and train schedules for a way from Indy to Kansas City on Sunday night so you know what your options are.

Please read the comment I just posted on the Get Together Room thread in the Fora - and I will post it here immediately after posting this one - and pack WARM clothes - the forecast is a bit cooler now.

SO FOR ANYONE COMING IN FROM THE WEST SIDE OF IN - if you can avoid anything around Rockville (west of Greencastle) - try to do so. While it may may look easier to come via 41 to 36 near there, it's probably better for anyone coming in via I70 or I74 to pass all that and go to 231 instead. 231 will intersect with 36 east of all that mess. Theresa - non-members are ABSOLUTELY welcome to join us! Please come meet some fantastic folks and have a fun weekend.

If you FB, find CAMA Indy and we'll work out all the details there. If you don't fb - contact us (contact info at top of Event page) with the necessary info: if you have your own tent or need to borrow/bunk in someone else's, your arrival/departure days/times, and we'll work out your pitch in items.

THAT GOES FOR EVERYONE - ALL ARE WELCOME REGARDLESS OF MEMBERSHIP STATUS.

Just be sure to get in touch so we can work out the details, esp on meals/pitch ins. Thanks.

Sorry you can't make it this year Donna, but keep an eye out for next years post and join us then!

Thanks Ann - it really is a fun experience to camp in the fall in the midwest. Your comment reminded me I have an extra warm mummy bag I can loan out as well.

This past weekend we saw a doe and her fawn up close, and the horses next door come right up to the fence to check everything out. Tim and the guys cleared many of the trails for short or long hikes thru the property - you can check out a couple of lakes, a natural spring, a cave, several kinds of trees and tons of gorgeous colors.

HELP - we don't have room in the house for all those hoping to stay inside.

Pls understand this is an older modular home - under 1000 sq ft. The bathroom facilities will meet our basic needs for quick wash ups - but not for daily showers for everyone. Past attendees camped outside as part of the whole outdoors adventure - we've only had a few gals inside, mostly for health reasons. With the size of this year's crowd, space is also needed for tables for supplies, food and food prep. This is not Tim's primary residence - it is the equivalent of an old hunting lodge, with very limited power (that we need for cooking), a small hot water heater, and not much extra room.

We have some spare tents to loan out and will help set them up. Rosemarie has room for 4-5 more gals in her tent and is an experienced camper - she'd be happy to give you tips on how to make this an enjoyable experience - pls contact her. Bring an air mattress and warm bedding and you should be ok. (It was 50 last night and everyone was fine. It even rained a bit this morning, and it was still easily manageable.)

If there is ANY WAY AT ALL for you to camp out - we'd appreciate it if you could make those arrangements. Thanks.

If you wish to room together in a hotel to keep costs down - post here if you are looking for roomies. You may have to find a hotel a little further out as I've heard the nearby ones are almost out of rooms - but even the drive from the west side of Indy is only an hour - very doable to head back for sleeping.

We want everyone to have a good time and are doing everything we can to make it so. We appreciate your understanding, AND your prayers for nice weather that weekend!

Been asked to copy my thoughts from the Forum thread - regarding why the men/women ratio at events isn't more even:

"Women usually attend events with a little different mindset. We're happy to meet new friends of BOTH genders and form friendships with everyone. While we hope to discover a mutual attraction or a special connection with one of the gentlemen, we don't weigh our attendance decision on those chances. To us - simply spending time with fellow Catholics, having fun doing activities we enjoy, learning a bit more about our faith and each other - that's more than enough reason to leave our computers. We step out in faith that this is a door God is opening that we're supposed to walk through in order to enrich our life experience here on earth. I personally feel tremendously blessed with the people I've encountered in our get togethers , many of them who will remain in my life forever."

None of us know where / how / when we will meet people that become precious to us - it just might be on a farm!!

FRI DINNER - sloppy joes - Chris/Pinkie 5, her son Brian, and I have the joes and buns covered. We could use chips, a side dish or some kind of veggie, cheese slices and pickle slices, and maybe dessert.

SAT B'FAST: B'fast casseroles ( ingredients needed are shredded cheese, eggs, seasoned croutons, milk, b'fast meat), juices, milk, hot choc, coffee (I have coffee covered but need creamers and sugars), cold cereal/instant oatmeal. Optional adders are assorted yogurts and fruits (melon slices, fruit tray, etc).

SAT LUNCH: sandwiches - breads, lots of meats and cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, mayo, butter, (we have mustard). Raw veggies/dip, cut up fruits (tray or salad), chips (Rob is bringing 3 bags of Lays so chips are covered for this meal,) assorted cold side dishes (potato salad, pasta salad, etc.), Ann from MO is making 'a slew of cookies' for dessert.

SAT DINNER: Spaghetti - pasta, sauces, garlic bread, butter, tossed salad and assorted dressings. Chris/P5 is making a baked something, and Michelle is making some cookies - so dessert is covered for this meal.)

SUN B'FAST (after mass) - pancakes, syrups, butter, b'fast meat, assorted juices, milk, and cold cereal/instant oatmeal, hot chocolate, hot tea. I'll do coffee again but need creamers and sugars.

SUN LUNCH - same sandwich menu as Sat, and any leftovers too.

We'll start tearing down late afternoon Sunday - so for any help that sticks around for dinner, we'll just use up leftovers.

ALSO: Ice (LOTS) in your own coolers, snacks if you want to munch during the day, s'mores stuff/marshmallows for the campfires both nights.

Hosts have paper goods and bottled water covered.

If you have special diet needs or desire other foods in place of this menu, pls feel free to bring your own. And remember, BYOB.

CM St. Louis usually does tshirts or sweat shirt and those are quite popular.

About hour questions.

I have all my own camping equipment but no extra stuff anymore because of lack of storage. My tent only fits one comfortably maybe two if you just put sleeping bags inside and nothing else. I'm not sure if I'm camping it just depends on how cold it is. If it's too cold I'll like to be inside but I'll camp till about 50 degrees any colder than that and it's just too miserable.

I'm driving in from st. Louis but will already have 3-4 people so unless someone wants to caravan at this point my car is full of St. Louis area people.

As to food I'm not sure I don't like to cook when I camp so I tend to keep it simple. I guess just let me know what to bring. I can bake pretty well and can prebake a slew of cookies and other sweets.

I plan on getting there sometime friday night but since I'm bringing other people I'm not sure yet when we are all leaving. I think we may arrive late on Friday or sometime Sat. Morning. Will update when I have a better idea.

Hi folks ... my CM subscription expired back in February (2011), but would I be allowed to attend this event? There are many of you whom I'd like to actually meet, person-to-person, after reading and writing with you in the forums.

Thank you and God bless!

m.a. :)

To elaborate on Tim's post - contact Tim on CM and me on FB with your questions- we're co-hosting and trying to cover all of our bases to make sure we don't leave anyone or anything out. We've got a couple years experience with this outing so hopefully have worked out some of the bumps, but every year is bigger and hopefully better! Our goal is a pitch in with help from everyone so nobody takes on too much/spends too much, and everyone finds plenty of ways to have a good time.

Tom - we welcome all kitchen / cooking help - you're now on my list, lol!

It's great seeing all the comments interested folks are posting! If you have questions, please feel free to post or contact Mary or me privately. We'll do our best to answer them. Just a little over 2 1/2 months to go! Praying our weather will be as cooperative as last year! :)

Sounds like a great weekend get away. My decision to attend revolves around my reopening of my restaurant. I have the choice to close it during this weekend. But I will have to see if I deserve and earned time off during now and then. The camping, fires, frisbee and sharing with some of the group for the second time and being introduced to the others, I find appealing. I offer to help with some of the cooking, in that it is something I know and to not mind to do. With Peace, Tom

My tentative plans are based on my daughter's volleyball schedule. We'll see if I am ready to take a break from it then.

I should have pumpkins to bring as those plants are looking very healthy in my garden with blooms and pumpkins growing. I also have a good size tent with a couple rooms if any ladies would like to "bunk" with me,

Yes, there are two bathroom facilities with showers/ tubs on site. We might have to schedule shifts! LOL.

Welcome to all of those who are going to be joining us for the first time!! I am really looking forward to this event, as I think it really will be one stellar experience!! So many wonderful people will be there! People I have been wanting to meet, people I haven't seen in awhile and wonderful surprises, too!! Spread the word!!

Everyone remember to bring a pumpkin to carve too! Last year we had quite a 'glow show' after it got dark - there are some very talented carvers in our midst.

We're really looking forward to catching up with old friends and making plenty of new ones!

Anyone with extra tents or camping gear - pls bring it if you can. There are some first timers that want to try camping out but need to borrow equipment. Thanks. Anyone with an extra RV or motorhome, bring it along....some of the city girls would appreciate that kind of camping! :)

I am loving seeing so many new faces responding to our invitation! Tim - we're going to have to put on a great weekend for all these wonderful folks so they'll come back again!

Olivia - I'm so sorry your plans changed. Just know the Indiana door (or should I say tent flap) is always open!

Some of you have found us on fb as well under CAMA Indy - that's great because we'll post details on both places so we won't miss anyone. We'd appreciate if you'd help spread the word, the more the merrier.

The pitch in part will be worked out in September - just know we'll have several meals to feed all these great folks, so folks that want to cook or bake something to bring can do so, those that want to stop by the store to buy stuff on the way can do so

Hey Tim -- Donna mentioned several museums (and children's museums are great fun!), but in my short time in the "city" I thought it would be cool to see some historical sites.

What kind of sight-seeing are you interested in Olivia? I will be taking Wed. thru Sun. off and will be working out at the farm but will be available to meet people at the airport and to coordinate rides. The Speedway museum as well as the Children's museum are very popular sites! Mary(CM 363093) would probably be a better resource for questions regarding things to see in do in Indy.

Jesse-- and anyone else not from Indiana-- consider making the trip to Indy for this event. There are others from out of town who are planning on coming it. We love to have first time attendees-- we become fast friends with all who attend. You never know who you might meet! We've had people join us from all over-- Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Illinois, New York, etc. For those who love the outdoors and meeting people, this is a great fall vacation idea (great people and low on cost-- can't beat that!)

Hi Olivia! You would fly into Indianapolis Intl airport. It would be approximately 40 min. to get to the farm from there. We were going to see if we could pick people up that needed rides and didn't want to rent a car.
