First off, PC, mac or Linux, none of them are better than each other. the best computer is you. It is how well you take care of your computer. I have 7 PC computers, with Firewall turned off, No antivirus program installed and they run all day and all night. these computers have been runing for years now and a virus hasn't touch one of them yet. A computer is like a car you have to take care of it, change the oil check water gauge, fill up the tank with gas. do normal maintaince to keep the car up and going. If not then the car will not last long just like a computer. I personally have all custom computers built by me and not made in china like mac, hp or dell.

I have 4 Laptops myself and all of them are Hp with windows of course, My notebook 8.9" is for online banking and all secured transactions(files, data), the second one is for downloading and all crazy stuffs, the third one is Hp G62 with intel core i5 it is the one I use for all the engineering software( mathlab, Autocad, Solidwoks, Orcad, mathematica....) the fourth one is an old Hp evo connected to my Tv for some Internet Tv channels and all these cost less than $2000($450+$500+$900+$115). Have all the fun that i want with computers and it is cheap especially when it comes to use engineering software PC is the best choice, i bought my core i5 at $900 and i can use all the engineering software my classmates with Mac (more than $2000) cant Shame...! PC forever!

I'm not sure whether I'll get a laptop or a desktop, but I'm almost certain it will be a PC with Windows. Desktops are better in almost every regards, but laptops have the advantage of mobility and are good enough for the most part. I am enjoying my Thinkpad very well, but I sometimes miss having a desktop.... If blu-ray and quad-core become affordable on a laptop, I'll probably go for another laptop next time.

Apple has always been an extremely innovative company and it continues to be the most inovative company in the world in the area of consumer electronics; I admire Apple and Steve Jobs very much for that. Nevertheless, I had a Mac desktop computer once, I didn't like it. Every computer I have had since then has been non-Apple. I will never buy a Mac, Macs are overpriced and underpowered. It is better to have a non-Mac because with a non-Mac one can use EVERY kind of software, conversely, not all software is made for the Mac. Thus, a non-Mac offers more versatility at a lower price with more power/speed. I've never owned a laptop, my next computer will be a big laptop as an ADDITION to this desktop computer that I bought a couple of months ago. I'm very happy with it. By the way, Windows 7 works flawlessly, I love it!

Computers are like people - different strokes for different folks ;) [get it? key-strokes ... eh, yeah...] I have a Dell XPS, had an ACER (gave it to my brother, who gave it to my Dad... all in the family :D -- ha!) No preference really they are both great. Though I have to say I would like a Desktop again, well make that a TABLET PC!!! :D [[art freak, here, sorry]]
Eh, make that a MAC Tablet - better artistically and virus-tically ;)

the Best computers are custom built computers, this way you get exactly what you want, In design, Hardware and Software. All my computers I own are custom built. They have no problems with Hardware or software failure and no virus' or dangerous material on them that could expose problems like the Famous name brand computers out there, Like Mac, Dell, HP, IBM......
