Thank you for your time to engage all of us in prayer. I would love to participate in this Novena- but I am a bit confused. Am I just supposed to say the rosary every day- or are there actual nine prayers to go with it? Please let me know and thank you and may God Bless your spirit!
Hi Jacquelyn - Thanks for joining. The novena involves the daily recittaion of the rosary but we say the mysteries in order - then repeat no matter which day the mysteries fall on. So we could end up saying the Sorrowful on a Sunday or the Glorious or Joyful on a Friday.
Some sites have prayers to say before beginning the novena but I'm not sure if that's necessary. I was taught to begin with a brief prayer to Mary saying that I offer this Rosary as part of my 54-day novena for and with all others who are saying it at this time and that I offer it for my novena intention(s) (you can state them if you like), then to begin the Rosary.
The 54-day novena is actually 6 9-day novenas - 3 of petition followed by 3 of thanksgiving. The first 3 9-day novenas are novenas of petition in which we present our petitions and recommend those of all others who are currently praying the novena. After the 27th day we begin 3 9-day novenas of thanksgiving in which we thank Our Lady for graces and benefits received and for answers to our petitions in accordance with God's will and in God's time.
This is the way I was taught. If I'm wrong in this, anyone can feel free to correct me.
