Hi Joe et alia,
Nice to meet you.
So, you're against Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid? Is that what you're telling me, or are you just telling me that those things are examples of Socialism?
Yes I am telling you that they are examples of socialism and I am against them. I am against all forms of socialism including bailing out banks and auto industries. Social Security was supposed to be something you invested in during your lifetime and then it paid back during the years you could not work. Medicare and medicaid are pure handouts. By nature, these things are corrupt and full of fraud because they are run by human beings.
These programs will never be efficient and will always lose money. I love going to the grocery store and there is a 20 something in line in front of me with a huge cart full of goodies, paying with a welfare card and talking on their $800 I Phone.
We as a nation are the most generous people on earth. To think that somehow without all this government stuff that our fellow citizens would be left to die in the streets is just silly. There used to be a lot of private organizations that provided social work and help for those in need. This has now been replaced by an overbearing and corrupt central planning state. And they have failed miserably. There are 49 million people on food stamps. The war on poverty has been a disaater.
I don't know too much about Medicaid, but your notion that Medicare is a "pure handout" is a pure fiction. You pay Medicare premiums to be paid, and even those who are on Social Security and choose to use Medicare have to pay premiums.
I didn't know there was such a thing as a welfare card, and, in any event. even if true, it does not mean that everyone or even a majority on welfare act like your example. Besides, let us assume for a moment that what you say is true. Do you know the person? If not, then how can you say anything about their circumstances?
Yes, it is true, 100 years ago, there were organizations that catered to those on poverty or who could not help themselves. How effective were they? What do you think the whole progressive movement was all about?
