How should I approach that with Roman Catholic women I date?

I think us Trad lovers also have this problem to an extent, especially if the person we are trying to date likes life teen/charismatic stuff.

It is my goal to attend a Mass in all 22 rites of the Church. I've been to Melkite, Byzantine Ruthenian, Assyrian Chaldean, Ukrainian and of course Roman rite Masses.

The most beautiful one was at St. George Greek Melkite Catholic Church in Sacramento. Part of the Eparchy of Newton, MA. Mass was in English, Arabic and Greek.

That is an awesome mass! The young adult group Veritas had an event there a few months ago and we got introduced to it and had a Q&A with the priest afterward.

I second what everyone has said, I would start off by telling the women about all of the things that the rites have in common and then asking them if they have any questions and asking them what are their specific concerns. If you have gotten to the point of having face to face contact perhaps suggest that one, or a couple, of your dates start out by attending an Eastern rite Mass. Of course this suggestion could come after you have educated them a bit, and addressed some concerns. Think of it as a process. If all of our suggestions don't help and they don't even want to just continue going to their Mass and you go to yours, then oh well thanks be to God that life goes on and God willing you will eventually find someone who is more open.

Hi John,

This may be a good link for you. This may also be a good link for the Western Catholic women that you encounter:

www.ewtn.com

This is a series on EWTN called "Light of the East", which discusses various aspects/issues of the Eastern Catholic Church. This resource should also give these women assurance that the Eastern Church is certainly 100% Catholic, as this series would not exist on EWTN if it were not. EWTN will not promote any such program that is not 100% in line with the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.

In my local area, this program is on the Catholic radio station every Sunday morning.

Hope this helps.

Also, a Roman Catholic can attend an Eastern Rite Mass and receive communion. It fully satisfies their Sunday Mass attendance obligation.

All they really need to know is that it is under Pope Benedict XVI. pope and it is very reverent and beautiful! You might want to invite them to escort you to Mass and find out for themselves. Dove

I assure you A Catholic Charismatic Mass Dove is very reverent and beautiful and is not STUFF. Just as a Traditional Latin Mass is reverent and beautiful. As long as it is allowed under the authority of Pope Benedict XVI it is sacred and legitimate. pope

Digging on the expression, "all they know if the post Vatican II American kumbaya Catholic liturgy". Just two words for that.......yeah, baby!!!

While you are educating them on the different rites of the Catholic church that are allowed under the authority of the Magisterium, you might want to look into educating yourself on the Spirit filled Catholic Charismatic Mass that sings the praises of God. They sing TO Jesus and not just about Jesus. kumbaya Lord, oh kumbaya!! (Someone's praying Lord, O be with us!)..........yeah, baby!! clap
