Michael, my friend, Ronald Reagan doubled the size of the federal deficit during his years in office. And the size of the government got huge under his presidency. That being said, he does seem sane compared to today's crop of Republicans.

One thing I'll say for him is that at least he had the good sense to see that the deficit was getting out of control and raised the same taxes that Walter Mondale promised to raise (which cost Mondale the election).

God help your country if any of the Tea Baggers ever take the White House.

I'm so sorry to hear Catholics stating such rubbish. Ronald Reagan tried desperately to cut federal spending and the growth of Govt. But all spending bills originate in the House, and congress spent $1.78 for every dollar of new renue Reagan raised. Reagan shut down the govt a few times and did all that he could, but the democrats in congress forced the massive growth in spending. Just like Newt Gingritch balanced the budget against the severe opposition of Bill Clinton. The constitution put the power of the purse in the hands oof congesss; not the president. IF John Boener had a backbone, we could have a balanced budget. But Boener is but a moderate Democrat in the wrong party

(Quote) Mary-814080 said: Mary, Could you have gotten any longer. I'm going to be polite about this, as I said you have your opinion and I have mine. As for being radical, I was pro-life then, never wavered. Do not attack me or others because we do not agree with you, everyone has an opinion and I respect yours. I do not consider myself a liberal today, I am more of a moderate and vote for candidates who have a similar philosophy both Republican, Democrat or Independent.

Can we move forward and try to see the good in every person we meet.

While seeing the good (the truth, Jesus Christ) in every person (where possible) is admirable, it's not about your opinion or mine or his or hers. There might be a thousand people with opinions on this thread. But we are Christians and we aspire to HIS opinion. He is holy and surely is "the way, the truth, the life". Life, not death. This pro abortion president has a very definite agenda and it is opposed to life. There are plenty of web sites with depictions of abortion. Watch the procedure. It's murder. Euthanasia is murder. Embryonic stem cell research and invitro fertilization involve the destruction of human life; we call this killing. There is no dispute about these facts. Our church has helped us to understand these facts. This administration has advanced the culture of death, like no other.

Oh how we need Our Lady. All Catholics, all Christians, all people--we all need her. Is there anyone not devastated by yesterday's horrific news? When evil becomes visible to us it hits home even more. We know what's been happening in this country, silently and out of sight. The political process has failed to change it significantly. We need another avenue. Our Lady is offering it. Listen to her. www.ourladyofamerica.org God bless you all.

Denise, Thank you I just watched the entire hour. Immaculee's message is so important to us right now. She reflects Our Lady's love and the forgiveness shown by Our Lord on the cross. Thank you again.

Frustrating, isn't it. Such apathy about the Virgin Mary's apparitions messages/warnings.

The US Bishops need to tend to the Virgin Mary's very simple request* without further delay.

*11-15-1956 - "Our Lady then asked me (Sr. Mary Ephrem) to draw a picture of her first appearance. She also requested a statue made according to this likeness and placed, after being solemnly carried in procession, in the Shrine of The Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. She wishes to be honored there in a special way as Our Lady of America, the Immaculate Virgin."

For those interested in nudging our Bishops to fulfill Our Lady's request, write a short letter encouraging them to do so without further delays. Here's a link to the US Bishops' addresses. At a minimum, everyone should write his/her own bishop. (Keep copies.)

Thank you Mary. I recommend any requests to the bishops be kind, respectful and not demanding. They're just like the rest of us in that none of us like to be told what to do. So measured words are important. Taking the approach that you want to raise awareness of her message is a good tact. Most important are Our Lady's messages to us, and what we as individuals do in response. She wants each of to prepare a place for God in our hearts. I truly believe if we do this, all else will follow. Thank you for your support of this Mary.

Good point to highlight. The letters should be always be "respectfully submitted" and worded as such.

I do think a signed letter sent via regular mail has more weight than e-mail. If folks can do both regular mail and e-mail, though, so much the better.
