Corruption in the Vatican

Feb 22nd 2013 new
We need to pray for the Holy Spirit to bring about an end to the corruption that has taken hold in the Vatican. This corruption is undermining the Catholic Church's witness especially in the West.

Too many clerics seem by their actions to value power rather than holiness. May God bring them to eternal justice.

Don't the two of you ever have something nice to say?? EVER???

If you look for the bad, all you'll see is the bad. But look for the good, and you see the good.
Why not pray for the grace to see things as God sees them rather than as you see them?

There will always be bad - but far more often there is good.

One of the greatest weapons the enemy has is discouragement. Does God want you to think the Church is corrupt and wicked? Does God want you to complain and to mistrust all those in authority? I doubt it. So let's who . . . whom does that leave? Who is it that wants Catholics to be this discouraged? And if you do feel this way, why spread it around? Who's work are you doing?

Think about what you're doing. PLEASE!!!

We indeed need to pray for God's mercy in cleansing the Church in these tough time.

The wolves in sheeps clothing are all over the place, as our Lord said they would be.

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.[Matthew 7:15] [Latin]

[16]By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?[17]Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit.[18]A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit.[19]Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down, and shall be cast into the fire.[20]Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.[Matt 7:15-20]

As an additional note on one main source of the corruption within the Church, namely the "homoheresy."

And the article in Rorate Caeli referencing the article by Fr. Dariusz Oko, with the money quote!

rorate-caeli.blogspot.com

The global network of the homolobbies and homomafias must be counterbalanced by a network of honest people. An excellent tool that can be used here is the Internet, which makes it possible to create a global community of people concerned about the fate of the Church, who have resolved to oppose homoideology and homoheresy. The more we know, the more we can do. We need to remember that in these matters we are like “sheep sent among wolves”, and so we must be “as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves” (Matthew 10:16). We must have the courage to stand up against evildoers, as Christ had the courage to stand up against the Pharisees of his times. We cannot build our lives on sweet illusions, for only “the truth will set you free” (John 8:32), and that is why “God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Um... What's wrong with asking for people to pray about a very serious situation such as this? Granted, it wou ld have been better to close asking for conversion rather than eternal justice.

Thank God for Priest and Bishops for trying to stop this in the Church and I'm glad he thinks we should all do what we can to get the word out to help the Church. The Church militant will save the church in these hard times, we have the armor of God. Praying rosary theheart Dove knight-errant

Um, it's how they posed the prayer request. The attitude and assumptions towards the whole Church because of the shortcomings of a minority of its clergy.

Spreading discouragement and discontent helps neither the Church nor people who read these disparaging posts. One after the other.

Thank you, David. We all know the Church has suffered greatly throughout the ages, and will continue to do so because Satan never sleeps. As soldiers of Christ, we need to be supporters and less critical. I've seen enough articles from the secular/quasi catholic media, whether true or not, domestic or foreign jump on the hype wagon about the Holy Church. I am done. Won't read anymore articles about the Holy Father or the Church. Now is a time for us to reflect on how broken we are, and what we need to do to be spiritually correct with our Lord. Lent is a very holy time for all of us. I can understand why some CMers won't come to the forum during the Lenten period. theheart

Oh yes, look up Cardinals Spellman and O'Connell (of Boston). Spelly was a notorious homosexual and the kingmaker of the American Church from the 1940s to the 1960s. I've heard he abused boys as well. A former priest told me he had heard of a case where an Indian boy at a Jesuit mission in Montana ran off into the mountains rather than let himself be abused by Spellman during one of Spellman's visits to Montana.

One of Spelly's favorites was Christopher Weldon, who was named bishop of Springfield, Mass. Weldon also has been accused of abuse. Another protege of Spellman was Emerson Moore, who later became an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of New York and died of AIDS. Certainly by the 1940s and 50s there were well-developed gay networks in the American Church. The blame for this can be laid at the doorstep of the Vatican. American bishops and priests complained to the Vatican about the homosexual activities of Cardinal O'Connell and the antics of his nephew who was a priest. The Vatican did nothing. And that was in the early 1900s. So imagine a century of the filfth emanating from the Vatican corrupting the American Church.

For your own sake, PLEASE purge this soul-killing anger and resentment before they do you (or someone else) serious and permanent harm. There will always be corruption because the enemy attacks with relentless fury. But God is always with us. Never give up and never lose faith. Have faith. Despite being battered by the tempest, Peter's boat will never sink.

It's bad enough that this wrath and resentment keeps you at a distance from the Church and poisons all of your perception. What's 10 times worse is your missionary zeal in spreading this terrible mindset to others. Please stop. Don't you see the damage you could be doing? Do you want to discourage people and drive them away? Is that the goal? I don't think so. I've told you before, and I'll say it again: GET HELP. Find a good spiritual director and work through this. If you or someone close to you has suffered at the hands of a cleric, then find a solid therapist and address those issues. You don't have to carry this awful burden around with you any longer. God wants you whole, not wounded and enraged.

By all accounts, Spellman was a character. Once someone complimented his Cardinal's ring and he responded "you ought to see the earrings that go with it!" wink
