First Impression Worries

Mar 4th 2013 new

What are some of the things that you worry about when you think others are drawing a first impression of you?

Mar 4th 2013 new
I personally worry about misinformation. I'm on the border between being introverted and extroverted, and it generally shifts for the former to the latter with how well you know me. This prevents me from putting out some of my best qualities with first impressions. I've had a couple friends say they hated me at first because they saw one facet of my personality and thought that was all there was to me and then they really liked me after they saw how the piece fit into the whole puzzle.

Oh my, is this a loaded question?

I'm the opposite. I tend to be very extroverted at first meeting (and online) but shyer IRL.

I wish there was a rule that said, you are guaranteed THREE "first" impressions before someone is allowed to write you off.

Thanks for the rather complex reply. In this case the complexity is interesting. It seems that you have a mental picture of more aspects of first-impression possibilities than most people possess.

How much do you think that this awareness helps or hurts your ability to make the kind of first impression that you hope to impart?

Ok. Just stay away from nosey and knowsy people and you'll be fine.

Not sure exactly what kind of "loaded" you mean here. It could be an intrusive question to some, but I assume that people who aren't comfortable with the question will ignore it or reply in a way that mentions only what they want to go public.

I'm worried about people thinking I'm 15, because half the time they do. :-/

Oh shoot. This isn't the pink room. Us girls. :) I'm usually worried that someone thinks I am either too serious or not serious enough. And if I see weird nose hairs on a guy I'll be focused on that and completely ignore what he's saying. Which means I might give a bad first impression by focusing on my impression of him.
