I would really like to hear all of the good things we know now and are finding out about Pope Francis!

I will start with something small, but that I really think is positive.

And, that is that when Pope Francis was Archbishop of Buenos Aires, he got rid of the limousine and driver that was provided for him and took the bus every day to/from work so that anyone in his diocese who wanted to talk to him could just get on the bus and have a few minutes to talk to him while they were riding the bus together. So, in essence, every single person of his diocese (and even outside of his diocese) had personal access to their Archbishop!

How wonderful is this accessibility to your spiritual leader!

One thing positive to know about Pope Francis at first blush might appear to be negative, but it really isn't.

Almost all the negatives that are being published about him originate with just one source in Argentina.

A left wing, anti cleric, anti Catholic, Argentinian journalist.

That fact, by itself, tells us a lot that is positive about our Pope.

"Already one American cardinal has found that his new pope is all business, intolerant of scandal and ready to root out the spiritual sickness at the very heart of the Roman Catholic Church. Boston's Bernard Cardinal Law was at the epicenter of the 2002 sex abuse scandal which broke in the American Catholic Church. He fled to Rome and became the archpriest of the Basilica of Mary Major and recently retired from that lofty post. Friday morning Cardinal Law encountered Pope Francis at the Basilica where he still maintains his Roman apartment on church's grounds. The Italian media reports that Pope Francis immediately expelled Cardinal Law from the Basilica and is forbidding him from ever crossing the threshold of Mary Major again. The Mexican-born disgraced American cardinal will be banished to a monastery to live."

But the Rev. Thomas Rosica, a Vatican spokesman, quickly dismissed that report as a fabrication and called it “absurd.”

“The Italian media story is completely false and without any foundation,” Rosica wrote in an e-mail Friday. “One only need watch the images of Pope Francis greeting Cardinal Law at this morning’s meeting with the Cardinals at the Vatican.”

Did you know our new Pope Francis is known for his interest in the tango and his fondness for mate (a South American beverage made from yerba leaves steeped in hot water)?

Before Pope Francis left Buenos Aires for Rome, he was wearing a pair of shoes so shabby that friends insisted on buying him a new pair. "The day he was departing for the conclave, a couple of friends bought him a pair of shoes. He's always very humbly dressed and the shoes he was wearing were not in very good shape," a pair of South American priests told Vatican Radio. He is still wearing the shoes his friends bought for him !! (from Divine Mercy webpage)
