Zoom congratulates Dennis on stealing a lock away from Michael from MN. Michael loves to lock threads .... though I have no idea if he was lurking or not at the end of the last status thread .....

Zoom has a new Blu-ray player to replace the one that malfunctioned two weeks ago. It's a cheaper Samsung model, which has only a few streaming services compared to dozens on the previous player .... but Zoom used Netflix on the old player more than anything else, and it's on the new one as well, so Zoom won't complain.

The new player also streams Pandora, and Zoom has some music playing in the background as he types this. "Beyond Belief" by Petra. thumbsup

Anne visited her father for his 84th birthday. On the way home she was entranced at the sight of cobwebs floating in the blue winter sky settling to glimmer on bright green spears of crop emerging.Threads trailed from fences and trees, lambs basked in the sun.Anne feels dreamy with memory.

Good morning, all! Sam will subtitle her post, "Why Sam should not be allowed to play with power tools, at least when her kids are home." Sam trimmed the hedges yesterday, then decided to take the suckers off the pin oak out front before changing for her sister's party. Sam's daughter came outside, calling to mama about fairy houses in the tree, and how Sam was removing their homes. Instead of releasing the buttons on the hedge trimmer instantly, Sam looked away from the job.

Oops.

Sam skimmed off half the nail on the left pointer finger and a little circle of tissue below it. No bone, which is good, but messy. Sam took a good look at the boo boo and decided this one was above her pay grade. She wrapped it in a hand towel, (hint for parents- always use a dark towel- less scary for kids), and loaded everybody in the minivan to visit the nice folks in the ER. Nothing to stitch, so they patched it, wrapped it, and called it good. Sam's budding career as a hand model is over- there will probably always be a little divot below the nail if anyone cares to look. In 2-3 weeks she should be able to get her finger wet again, 2-3 months for the nail to regrow. Oh, and she still went to the party and the concert. shhh It just didn't hurt bad enough to warrant sitting home by herself while her family had fun without her.

Sam got multiple lectures on the agony she would be experiencing and prescriptions for big ibuprofen and vicodin. So far, not so bad. Haven't needed the nasty Vicodin- yay! One more thing to be grateful for. Sam hates being doped up more than she dislikes discomfort.

The kids did a great job not panicking. Sam was proud of them! Sam only swore twice- she was proud of that, too.

Today's plans include lunch out, a visit to the Lavender Farm with her kids and a backyard campout with Sam's kids and the neighbor's grandchildren. Let the fun begin! biggrin

This afternoon, Lina and her son are going to surprise two birthday people. One friend is turning 65, and the other, a priest, is turning 93! Both are having a joint luncheon at a restaurant with about 25 other people. So the plan is (already cleared with restaurant management) to ascend the stairs to their table on the 2nd floor while son plays "Happy Birthday" with many flourishes, finishing the tune as he actually faces the celebrants. Lina & son are hoping it works out as planned, and they'll just see what happens next. Hopefully, they won't cut off a tip of finger and nail in the process, or have to eat any worms. hug

Margo is having just a lovely Wisconsin summer! cool Seeing lots of people very dear to my heart. After the family reunion last week, Margo worked 2 very full days, then spent Friday w/her daughter who is in WI for the summer. We ate, took photos for a craigslist ad, went to yard sales, then parted so Daughter could work. I then went to work myself fore 90 mins. and caught up on some paperwork.
Friday night, M's friend Heidi came from the Twin Cities. We talked, ate, dranked a few Leinenkugels beers -- Berry Weiss n Summer Shandy mixed w/fresh-squeezed organic lemon -- it actually fizzes! Then this morning we walked to the Farmers Market, found a plant sale, a bank, shopped a bit, then had a late lunch n talked shop and Heidi went home. M proceeded to have a long nap. faint Heidi and M met almost 10 years ago, which M finds unbelievable. wave
