Director of Institutional Research
Belmont Abbey College is seeking a Director of Institutional Research (whoreports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs). TheDirector analyzes data to help senior administrators and department chairsbetter understand the effectiveness of the Colleges programs and services. He or she analyzes enrollment patterns, assesses the curriculum,evaluates student support services, and administers surveys. Serving asthe Colleges liaison with the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools(SACS), the Director leads and coordinates reaffirmation activities and hasprimary responsibility for ensuring compliance with all SACS regulations andrequirements. The Director supervises the processing of teachingevaluations and ensures that the College meets all data reporting requirementsfor SACS as well as at the state and federal levels. The successfulcandidate will have an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a quantitativefield and a minimum of three years experience working in Institutional Research. He or she must be a highly focused, energetic, strategic thinker with strongverbal and written skills who is well organized, attentive to detail, and ableto multi-task. The Director must be able to work well with a variety ofindividuals, different sectors of the College, and all levels of faculty andadministration. The successful candidate will have an appreciation andunderstanding of the Liberal Arts and of the importance of the Humanities aswell as of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. He or she willsupport and actively promote the habits of excellence and virtue that willfoster the mission of Belmont Abbey College. The ideal candidate willalso have extensive experience in strategic planning, applied institutionalresearch and analysis, and educational assessment. This position requiresmastery of qualitative and quantitative measurement techniques and ademonstrated command of advanced skills using statistical and spreadsheetsoftware (Microsoft Excel, SPSS, and/or SAS). Experience using surveydesign programs such as SurveyMonkey and student information systems such asPowerCampus or Banner is required.
