People have turned a blind eye to the influence of satanism/occult on our society. As a result they probably think that nobody will challenge them.

One commenter below that story advances a plausible scenario: "Of course, Oklahoma will deny the permit, the Satanists will take this to court, and Oklahoma will lose. And in response, they will remove all religious displays from the capitol grounds, which was the entire point".

Do you suppose that the people behind this are serious about their Satanism, or are they, like Flat Earth Society members, just indulging a bizarro sense of humour? "The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation," Satanic Temple spokesperson Lucien Greaves said. I dunno, maybe I'm naive, but this sounds more like frat-boy humour than like a serious devotion to evil. I admit I feel more concern about New Athiests than about people who want to put on devil masks and dance around to show what badasses they are. I did meet one supposed Satanist back in highschool, but my impression was that he just thought it was a cool way to impress girls.

The statue is a disgusting mockery to the image of Jesus gathering and blessing little children.

Matthew 19:14 - "Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Part of the deceptive nature of Satanism is the seduction, which seemingly goes unnoticed and which deeply distorts Christianity in the soul. The subtle displays that darken the mind, weaken the will, and pull the unsuspecting soul down into spiritual bondage. This is the Satanic lie which deceived us in Eden.

I agree with Paul~ these people are just jerking us around because they can. We allow them to. Majority rule no longer counts if one person out of a hundred says they are offended by the Ten Commandments on the court house lawn, or one parent claims their little snowflake will have her feelings hurt if her school puts on a Passion Play. Too many lawyers with too much time on their hands cluttering our court system with frivolous lawsuits.

lol Charles where have you been??

I agree that much of this is just so they can and so they can end up with all things removed. Another group was ahead of the Satanists and then the Satanists from New York mind you got in no the game. It is a mockery of Jesus with the little children -- but then that is the epitome of satanism -- the polar opposite antithesis of Catholicism -- black mass, desecration of the Eucharist etc. . .

Even if their statue gets to be placed, by some chance, I suspect it would meet an unhappy accident like a freak tornado that just happened to wipe it out but left the ten commandments. . .on some dark and stormless night. . . just saying....

I thought Europe was far worse than the US on the religious side, but after the court standing for gay marriages and annulling referendum and THIS ONE...

Their endgame is to directly challenge God. If the supreme court rules in favor of this, they themselves will be engaged in satanism.

Not seeing that. . . a pawn of Satan perhaps, unwitting player in a satanic game, but engaging in satanism - not anymore so than if they found in favor of placing a Christian statue, an Islamic statue or a Jewish statue as an indication that they are engaging in any of those religious belief systems. Satanism is a legally recognized religion in the US and as such has the same protections available to it as do other legally recognized religions. The Supreme Court will rule on the whether or not a state site can refuse one religion's statue but allow another without crossing the boundary of not sanctioning any religion above any other by the state. So, they will probably find that the state can't reject the one and keep the other -- which will mean they either take both or get rid of all. . .which is probably as has been pointed out by others the true intent.

We might luck out because they are a group out of New York and have little tie to or stake in the Oklahoma state grounds. . . but we might not.

It's distasteful but like I said before if the statue ever does manage to arrive here, I suspect it will not go unmolested for long.
