wave In the old days, CM had a forum for ProLife issues. It was effective and had many benefits. Raise your hand if you would like to have it again. (Just enter a post here.) I've been missing the room for a long time, and I thought I'd put it out there. I may go to Admin if it makes sense.

Please put your two cents in!

it's a good idea, though I'm under no illusions about our side being likely to win many battles in this particular war in the near future. The whole structure of liberalism/modernism would have to take some very heavy hits before most people would be willing to revisit particular issues like abortion. And I don't see that happening soon, absent some great overarching socio-economic crisis.
Here in Canada, the man who is likely to be our next prime minister, the slick and shallow Justin Trudeau (son of Pierre), has just decreed that members of his own Liberal party who won't back its 'pro-choice' stance will not be permitted to run as Liberals in the next election. Since the Liberals have for many years tolerated the presence of pro-life members within the party, this represents a real switch. Trudeau has also, like his father, had some admiring words for dictatorship.

Thanks for writing Paul. What you say about the battles makes it all the more reason to have a separate CM forum. Right now, the ProLife posts are spread throughout who knows what forums, so it's hard to get a pulse on what's happening.

With last week's Suoreme Court ruling on buffer zones outside abortion clinics, I get a sense the tide may turn for the better, at least here in the US.

CM is a website for Catholics, and I was surprised upon arriving last winter to find there was no forum on the one thing we stand for so publicly.

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but you have to look at if from the point of CM...If we have a forum based on one very specific topic then other people will want forums based on their topic because someone asked and received it on their topic...Thus possibly creating discourse between people who got their topic and others who did not...Where do you draw the line?

Hi Sarah. Thanks for your comments. No Debbie Downer about them. I like the way Hope expressed it:

"CM is a website for Catholics, and I was surprised upon arriving last winter to find there was no forum on the one thing we stand for so publicly."

As for ProLife being a very specific topic for CM, most of the forums are already about specific topics, e.g., single parenting, divorced Catholics, widows & widowers, sports & games, entertainment & humor. And ProLife is a broader topic than many people realize. It is an umbrella for many topics crucial to our dignity & existence as humans and Catholics, e.g., premarital sex, contraception/natural family planning, homosexuality, end of life issues, pornography, strengthening our priests to talk about such things in their homilies, etc.

ProLife issues seem worthy of their own forum.

I would support such a forum. St. James said that faith without good works is dead. The prolife movement is where we as Catholics can manifest good works and most importantly stand up for what we believe.
