Jerry,

The sub officials are doing the best they can under the circumstances. Considering they have not had any training or experience to call plays at this level, I feel they are doing the best they can. Yes, they are missing plays and yes, someone is going to be seriously hurt.

In the Texans vs. Broncos game, QB Matt Schaub took a vicious hit to the helmet that not only removed his helmet but took a small part of his ear. No flags were thrown. He came out for a couple of plays and then resumed play. The player hitting him should be fined and suspended at least for one game.

I have not seen the demands of the trained officials but if those in charge of the NFL were that concerned, namely Roger Goodell, Commissioner, this would have been resolved during training camps.

Whether we have sub officials or the real thing, mistakes are always going to be made. My biggest issues are the subs not knowing the rules well enough and no one of the other officials during the game coming to their defense. Heck, they might not know the rules either.

I feel the issues separating the officials and the NFL will be resolved in a couple of weeks. If so, it will not be due to the coaches and players complaining . Those living on Park Avenue could care less what they think on this issue. It is all about power.

I would however be surprised if the regular officials did not return in three weeks.

Just my take.

Blessings,

Leon

Hi Leon,

I watched the Texans/Broncos game yesterday. I too was appalled at the hit Schaub took, with no repercussions to the offending player.

I think these kind of plays are only going to get worse.

Congrats on the Texans w in!!

Hello Ms. Linda,

Thanks for the kind words. The city is really excited about our chances of going all the way this season. Three games does not a season make but in prior years and even having the lead we had, somehow we would have lost that game to the Broncos. I am hoping we can finish the season 11 and 5 or 12 and 4. We have to get home field advantage in the playoffs. Note how optimistic I am.

The Lions were involved in a wild one and it seems from the highlights, your head coach made a serious error in the overtime period. Someone would have to explain his decision to try and draw the Titans off side instead of kicking the tying FG. I don't understand that logic at all but he is the head coach and not yours truly. However, they did score a lot of points. We play the Titans next.

By the way, the Packers will have to win tonight for me to finish the weekend 8 and 8. Thus far, I really suck but enjoy making my picks.

Hope and pray all is well.

Oh....Leon I know. I'm not mad at them per say. But someone WILL get hurt possibly worse than Schaub. Because now the players think they can get away with murder. In the Redskins/Rams game last week Robert Griffin was getting hit nearly EVERY play. And NO flags.
The Ram players were even telling him "all day long....you're gonna be hit"
I AM mad at the league. "Collective Bargaining" my behind! They should be sitting down on their Collective Butts and getting this hammered out! And that goes for the official representatives too! (just sayin)

I agree Jerry careers are at stake here.

As I write this, it appears the officiating has cost the Packers the game vs. Seattle. The replay it appears showed the Packer defensive back had possession in his chest on the last play of the game. When it gets where a team is losing a game to the officials, something needs to be done now. If not, some team may be eliminated from the playoffs due to the officials.

In Mary Ellen's Patriots vs. the Ravens, it appeared the ending FG was a little to the right of the top of the goalpost but of course sometimes the angle can be deceiving.

Yep Leon, The Lions coach took all the blame today for that last play. He said it was miscommunication on his part. Said all the blame is on his shoulders, and his only. Nice to see a coach own up to his shortcoming.

Now, about that Packer game tonight. What a travesty!! The refs. robbed the Packers. Last play of the game, Jennings intercepts the ball in the end zone, and one ref. says touchdown, while one ref, says NO. Clearly the replays show Jennings had the ball. This was one of the worst reffed games of the season so far. Not only this last play, but other plays in the game as well.

I don't blame the Packers for walking off the field and not wanting to come back for the extra point. Hell, I wish I'd of been there, just so I could of walked off!! Can you tell I'm MAD?? eyepopping irked

Even the broadcasters are saying they have NEVER seen anything like this.

Linda,

Yes, I am imagining the veins popping out on your forehead. laughing Can you imagine if the same scenario had played out this evening in Green Bay? The officials may have needed a police escort to get out safely.

I will be anxious to see if the NFL office makes any comments on this game tomorrow.

Blessings, keep calm and sleep well tonight. No matter what, your guardian angel will be protecting you during the night.

Nite, nite.

This kind of officiating is ruining the NFL. What a black eye to the sport.

You can't take refs. out of division three and expect them to be able to keep up with the fast pace of the NFL games. Clearly they are out of their league here. It's a total joke. Shame on the league for letting this play out.

But IMHO these officials stink. Someone's gonna get hurt. And if all they did was coach some "lower-end" college teams then this game (NFL game) is WAY too fast for them!

And the miscues are pervasive around the league....

Yesterday....Tony Romo was his directly in the head and no penalty? Also, one of our wide receivers (Ogletree) could have "torn up" his knee slipping on the ref's cap which he had tossed in the end zone. They are letting TOO much go.

For me....I want the real ones back. You can comment....add, subtract or just give me your take on the officiating this year!

I agree with you,Jerry. These replacements are bad.On Sunday,in they gave the 49ers two challenges,AFTER their timeouts were gone!!!!
