Being new here, I enjoy reading through the forums. I do not, however, feel comfortable yet participating much. At this time in every election year people seem polarized for and against candidates. As I read some of the forums, I wonder if anyone would be willing to share if their candidate of choice for president this year is of a different political party than their candidate of choice 4 years ago.

Welcome to the forums, Sheila. Feel free to jump in anytime. As you've been reading the forums, I'm sure you know that not "All CM forum participants are voting for Romney. 100%." Take it all with a grain of salt and sift through the chaffe.

Apparently if the Archbishop commands his subjects to vote in an election he is sinning? I'd like to know which one of the Decalogue that transgresses.

Last time I voted for the Republican only because he claimed he was pro life to some degree. This time I will just vote for local issue such as the referendum on, 'so called gay marriage,' we have in Maryland. I may change my mind and vote for the candidate from the Constitutional party. Paul Ryan who ,for as much as I knew about him, seemed good to me has given into Romney to much on the abortion issue. If neither candidate is going to do much about ending the mass slaughter of innocent babies then why vote for them. Romney seems to see abortion as just a another political issue and not the crime that it is.

Typical response from someone who doesn't follow the faith or believe in it's doctrines.

As you have proven again, you make judgements on others and if you followed your faith then you should not do so. But the fact that you do, tells me how hypocritical you are. Bravo, unkindness may be your best trait you have to offer anyone on this site.

Do you think your comments here demonstrated kindness or not being judgemental? It looks to me as if you have done exactly what you accused others of doing.

Actually Patricia, I have been blessed by God. I have been in a relationship with a very good man, whom I can go to church with and pray with daily. God has given me things recently that have far exceeded by prayers. I am very humbled and grateful. And I will vote for Obama, as will many others. I guess God can overlook our faults, too bad some people on here cannot. You know, throw the first stone if you can.

Not to derail this thread, but where is concept of God will overlook some things or sins or..... comming from? This has no basis on Catholic theology or teaching. This is a protestant construct. God may forgive, but He overlooks nothing.

It is arrogance to assume someone does not practice or know their faith. Voting for Obama does not prove one does not practice their faith. I am pro life as well. I would rather come up with a social design to assist those who will be and are pregnant for whatever reason it happened....rape, etc. I am willing to design a socialist program to help these individuals throughout their life, if abortion is made illegal. And that means everyone in society must assist these people with your time, money, resources, etc. And that also means that we may have to help them for their entire lifetime...small price to pay if we're talking about saving unborn lives.
