A few things from the other thread that should still be discussed...

The composition of the Senate going into the 2014 election will depend on the results of the 2012 election. Among the Senators up for election in 2014, there will be 20 Democrats and 13 Republicans.

And, I don't think Benghazi will disappear. I heard something today on the news that they want Hillary Clinton to speak at the hearings (I think that is next week?) about what happened.

I'm sure that the good Lord is pleased whenever we volunteer and give to help to the needy. As noble as they seem on the surface, Government programs tend to be slow and incredibly inefficient. As far as healthcare is concerned, nobody is denied healthcare in this country under the current system. Expensive, yes but you do pay more for a Cadillac. Then, as I see it, there are many inefficiencies in the system that overinflates the cost of healthcare. Unfortunately, this is not addressed in obamacare. If it is, I would sure like to know where and how.

Also, there are approximately 46 million people currently in the US who are not insured. Of these there are those who can afford it but choose to not buy insurance. Another group is eligible for employer benefits but choose not to take it. There are a couple more groups which I can’t remember at this time bringing the total number of people who truly can’t afford it to around 19 million. Making a law to force these people to buy insurance doesn’t make it more affordable. Then there are the exemptions. The State of Nevada, Nancy Pelosi’s district, unions and a few other groups will leave an estimated 19 million still without insurance.

But to be sure, having insurance does not guarantee access to healthcare. Even if 20% of the current doctors retire doe to obamacare, there will be a serious shortage of doctors. We could wait weeks to see a doctor to cure a cold.

But then, it’s already started. In Washington and Oregon, a cancer patient may be denied chemotherapy by their insurance, but offered a euthanasia drug instead. I guess you could say that healthcare was not denied, but I would say it was.

Ron....also something someone said that sums it all up is that for those few that do not have health insurance and really truly can't afford it....well, it would have been SO MUCH CHEEPER TO JUST PROVIDE IT FOR THEM! Expand the state if necessary....but we want bigger govt....we want them to take over doing what private business did because we think that the govt. will be more compassionate....my God....only an idiot would think that.

Indeed, these values are worth fighting for. We are mired in a liberal culture now, at least in the popular culture; but we need to sow the seeds of conservatism for future generations. We need to keep offering conservatism to those who have been dis-illusioned by Obama.

There is hope for the future in our youth. They say Obama's got the youth vote as part of his coalition. Well, I just noticed something interesting in the exit polls. Obama lost the WHITE youth vote 51%-44%, with 5% going for another candidate (Gary Johnson?). Obama won the BLACK youth vote 91%-8%, but that is a LOWER percentage than all other black age groups. Think about that... 8%. That means that almost 1 in 10 young blacks is a ROMNEY voter. Probably, young blacks are a bit unhappy with Obama due to their high unemployment situation. Perhaps, the Republican candidate next time around can get over 10% of the black youth vote when he is not running against Obama. Then as that black generation gets older it becomes more conservative, and we can wean blacks to vote Republican at higher and higher percentages. The Hispancis youth, though, does vote Obama at higher percentages than older Hispanics.

The youth might be more attracted to Obama right now than to liberalism in particular. A number of them got attracted to Ron Paul conservatism. Many of them are worried about the debt burden being placed on them. They would like to be given an excuse to rebel against the liberalism taught to them by the baby-boomers and gen-X-ers.

Vegas Employer: Obama Won, So I Fired 22 Employees

"I explained to them a month ago that if Obama gets in office that the regulations for Obamacare are gonna hurt our business, and I'm gonna have to make provisions to make sure I have enough money to cover the payroll taxes, the additional health care I'm gonna have to do, and I explained that to them and I said you do what you feel like in your heart you need to do, but Im just letting you know as a warning this is things I have to think of as a business owner."
