Do you not see the absurdity is saying that all the people who voted for Obama wish for Armageddon? In what universe does that logic make sense?

Another rebel without a cause. Pride and having no respect for your elders, were the first sin. It's amazing how this is repeated over and over in this universe and all others. Maybe you should stamp him out like a bug??? Would that be the universe you are from??? I spell check you words so you won't have to???

Where do I begin? "Those poor people" have been stealing land for many decades for their illegal settlements. They have demolished thousands of Palestinian's homes, bulldozed countless olive and other fruit orchards, destroyed their water sources, denied farmers access to harvest their crops- relentlessly, continuing to this day. Even National Geographic has documented this. I could go on, but Americans are so locked into their beliefs on the subject that it's a hopeless argument. The information is out there for those willing to take the time to learn. Please try.

This is a discussion for another time and place, and does not belong in this thread- I will post no more on the subject.

Putting Israel first is putting America second- our interests are NOT the same. As for me, I pledge allegiance ONLY to the USA. You are hanging around too many fundamentalists who are poisoning your mind. Stick to the Catholic Church.

Michael, chill out- no one is "throwing Israel under the bus." It has one of the most powerful militaries in the world. America will not allow it to be destroyed. Israel however, is doing a great job of destroying itself by alienating the entire world.

“The state of Israel must invent dangers, and to do this it must adopt the methods of provocation and revenge…. And above all, let us hope for a new war with the Arab countries so that we may finally get rid of our troubles and acquire our space.”
— From the diary of Moshe Sharett, Israeli’s first Foreign Minister from 1948-1956, and Prime Minister from 1954-1956

“Every time anyone says that Israel is our only friend in the Middle East, I can’t help but think that before Israel, we had no enemies in the Middle East.”
— John Sheehan, S.J. (a Jesuit priest)

Wow! This post heading can go in so many different directions: socialism, Middle East policy, the First Amendment....

I've been on too many blogs (Yahoo!) where all I did was debate atheists, gay rights advocates, defenders of the "Wall of Separation," ad infinitum. The world is rapidly changing, and as one of you pointed out with the Franklin quote, the masses don't really know much about good governance, but only what's in their best interests. Of course, the Founders expected this: you'll find numerous quotations which spell out the dangers of democracy. Hence, they founded a democratic republic. Like some of you here, I was getting a little fed up with all the national polarity: Fox v.s. MSNBC; liberals v.s. conservatives; gays v.s. straights; etc. But, along came Peter Kreeft who wrote that "We are at War." www.integratedcatholiclife.org.

But, who is our enemy?

Not Protestants, not liberals, not Jews, Muslims, or anti-Catholic bigots who want to destroy us.

Who is our enemy?

Satan!

Finally, someone came along and reminded us of this. He concludes by reminding us that Pope Leo XIII was so terrified by the havoc Satan would wreak on the Twentieth Century that he composed the "Prayer to St. Michael, The Archangel", which was routinely recited at the end of Mass until after Vat. II.

God isn't dead, but the game is over--we know the outcome: God wins! We're just the third string, mopping up.

Thank you Tom, well put. Many of us including me, need to be reminded of that from time to time. Before we begin our Knights of Columbus meetings, and after our Rosary we conclude with the Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel.

Tom, Very insightful! Especially for me Mary's fiat. Victory is God's, yes, and there is work to be done. Thank you. John

That's right, John. We will keep up the work.

Another thing the Yahoo! blogs showed me was that so many Christians (including R.C.'s) don't know how to win over the opposition. Many completely abandon all semblence of Christian charity and attack, sometimes personally, the poor souls who have gotten it wrong.

BTW, I like your Marian devotion amidst the cultural warfare. Kudos to you.
