Over the Holidays had to correct my fourteen year old son with my eighty year old parents on the history it seems these Socialist teachers have a revision policy . like famous Quotes one was "Nut" was not a famous quote and was it was stopping the German advance at the Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge . General Maxwell Taylor was completely surrounded with the 101 st airborne and other units . IT was a key city to the Germans to continue the war . these brave soldiers fought under sever hardships . President Reagan summed it up on his speech for Education and National Pride . www.youtube.com

Hi Michael,

It was Major General Anthony McAuliffe who said "Nuts!" when asked by the Jerries to surrender at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.

That is a very good speech. The same could be said, and more so, for Catholic Identity, which needs to be based on catechisis about our beliefs, our past, and the need for discipleship in answer to the universal call to holiness.

That, leading to more living a life of discipleship in Christ, cannot help but improve society.

Just a couple of corrections,. General Maxwell Taylor was not at Bastogne the men of the 101st were. It was General Mcauliff who responded fto the request for surrender with "NUTS".

At least "NUTS" is the offical story. According to the stories that circulated when I was in the Army the actual answer to the surrender request was in fact two words, "F--- YOU!"

If that is true or not I don't know, but one of my Sergeants who was there swore it was true.

In any case "NUTS" sounds better for general consumption.

Hi Paul et alia,

laughing You and I have both seen a few reenactments of the Battle of the Bulge. What you said would never have passed muster by the TV or movie standards of those times.

More to the point, it would never have passed muster with the media or the public when the battle actually took place 68 years ago this December.

Newspapers and the Newsreels of the day, actually had standards then. They also reported real news and left opinions to the editorial pages.

I knew a fellow from the 101st who claimed to have been there, and he ageed with your assertion.

But more to your point, Our schools, books, and teachers are shoving socialism down our kid's throats. Some intentionally, some not. But the books are written by socialists and they deliberately distort our national history so our kids have no idea what made America the greatest nation in the history of the world. People across the globe are begging for an opportunity to move here. America is the dream destination because of the great men who founded this nation and the magnificent constitution they wrote to guide her. It was the work of those great men that made America the land of opportunity. It was the work of those great men that led your grandfathers and great grand fathers to leave the land of thier birth to be part of this great nation. It was the work of those great men that made America so attractive to the 20 million illegals who have been pouring over our borders. Unfortunately, the recent immigtrants don't understand that when they vote for the Democrats, they are voting for the same people who turned thier own nation into a third world hell hole. 70% of Mexican Americans vote for the same Socialist Democrats who made their own great nation into the mess they have fled.

The socialists have been trying to destroy America for over 100 years. They own the Universities, the Major media, and most of our schools. they know that whoever owns the education system owns the future. And the own the three major networks so they can continually reinforce the lies they teach the kids in school. I said back in 1978 that if we don't take back our schools and our press that America is doomed. I stand by that assertion. Only we are a lot farther down the slippery slope today.
