What's so funny? Many churches, at least those built before the 1970s, have small altars on either side of the main altar. In many cases one is dedicated to the saint for whom the parish is named; if the church is named after Christ, then often one side altar is dedicated to Mary, the other to Joseph.

An example can be seen in this photo www.christourkingcatholicchurch.org (Note that the right side altar is at the far right edge and is identical to the one on the left, save for the statue and the altar relics.
