I have learned a lot from people on here regarding politics and religion.

Meaning that politics is the the true opiate of the masses not religion. Not sure what you thought that I meant.

hmmm....well, unfotunately, I think too many Christians are not educated or involved enough in politics and it is what has led us to the point we are at today. I have been guilty of this as well.

What I am saying is that politics and the media enforce undue influence in society and most people base their thought solely on presented ideas without research and or making informed decisions. That is the true opiate. Some news stories are brushed over as they do not fit into the current agenda while others are blown up as a means to incite the action of the masses. The true evidence of the opiated state of the masses is the ability of the media to generate a preoccupation in the youth with the celebrity culture and lull us into thinking that everything is okay when it is clearly not. The good thing is that all we need to do is love the Lord and seek to please him. We know how it all ends.

Shara,

So far, I must say, I really have liked your posts. It seems you have had some good guidance. Your posts about church teaching in the viagra thread were right on too. Your parents must have been good teachers.

Meanwhile, Obama's crushing the working classes and destroying unions while he, the union bosses and CEOs rake in profits. What good is a minimum wage with no jobs? Yet more of Obama throwing small pieces of candy to the minions while his real masters in lower Manhattan pillage the country.

Good...I hope so!

I wish everyone could watch this EWTN show that I am watching tonight. Ralph Martin is on it. He wrote the book "Will many be saved?" Scary because quoting scripture it is a narrow road to heaven meaning the few are saved rather than the many. Anyway, they talk about how sin is so accepted now-a-days and everyone has the idea that everyone will be saved and this isn't true. They address the political parties and Catholics in politits that are not adhering to church teaching and how we have an obligation to be conscientious when it comes to politics....interesting.

Perverts are easier to control than people who are educated and aware of what's going on. What a coincidence it is that fundamental rights to porn, contraception and abortion were "discovered" about the same time that economic control over society was increasing. Voila Berman v. Parker, Roth v. United States and Griswold v. Connecticut all within the span of eleven years.

wave A new play station? A trip to Europe? Are you kidding? Many "living" on minimum wage are hard working ,loving and God fearing people. They can't pay the oil bill because of astronomical costs due to the greed and gluttony of the stock holders. Health insurance? Forget that. Housing eats up most of that so called livable wage.

Many years ago, rent or mortgage took 1/4 of a person (or family) income. Rule of thumb....1 week's pay equal your housing costs. In many places now its more than half.

I agree a teen shouldn't expect to make adult wages .....but an adult should. And many are busting their humps at McD's.

Not very Christian some of the remarks I see posted here.Jesus gave everything away, even his own life. Especially his own life. Its time for the more fortunate among us to do more

Just sayin.

Hope I haven't turned off ALL of the guys on this site! wave

Have a beautiful and blessed day.

I"m sorry Susan but you are missing the point. Rasing the minimum wage causes INFLATION which means higher prices for everyone including those on minimum wage who then aren't making any more really. It also causes less jobs which is what happened last time it was raised and we can't afford to lose even one job now. Most people on minimum wage are using those jobs to supplement other income from spouses or parents. People who are receiving govt. help aren't usually on those jobs or are making sure they don't go over the amount that will hurt their govt. income.
