I agree with this article about who will be the nexy Pope , Cardinal Burke has more knowledge of the faith then any other Cardinal. He also has the best Chance at saving the Church in the west. I have listen to him before and he Impressed more then any other Cardinal in my life beside John paul and Benedict. I really think he will carry out benedict's legacy and bring back the Church to where Catholics will be proud to be Catholic. Check this out and see what you think all.www.taylormarshall.com

If any American deserves the Chair of St. Peter it's Burke. We need someone who can put the Western Church back on track.

Cardinal Tagle or Rai are my choices. Again, no vote :) I think both are well positioned to lead. Or Oulette - just cause he's Canadian :)

Tagle for Pope! :)

I think that's a little extreme. There are good things and bad things.

I think considering the talents of our leaders and the needs of the Church is a good thing.

But it's fun - and good - to talk about it! It allows us to turn our mind to the Church and its needs! Obviously we respect the guidance of the Spirit, but it's not bad to consider what matters might guide the Spirit and the Cardinals in the choice.

Besides, there's no guarentee that the Cardinals will follow God's perfect will. The onlt guarentee we have is that, as the successor of Peter, the new Pope will be infallable in matters of faith and morals and deserving of our obedience.

Some Popes have been extremely poor: listverse.com The deposit of faith remains untarnished despite them.

I say we all Adopt a Cardinal for Prayer!!! adoptacardinal.org

I don't necessarily think it's a power thing. Most popes in the last century have been superstars. There are few that have lived with more charisma than JPII or brains than B16. Burke is great - Brilliant! But not the globally recognised superstar that the Cardinals will seek.

One of the major issues I see is that the American, anti-Catholic venom of the media would be unleashed on Burke for his orthodox convictions. A foreign pope, particularly one from Africa or Asia might attract less vitriol for fear that the attack might be veiwed as racially insensitive.

perhaps-----but blacks who come into poer in the usa arent immune from vitriol.and its the very same people spewing that vitriol.

There is no man who deserves the Chair of St. Peter. But the Holy Spirit finds a way to use those who fill it for God's purpose anyway...

The vast majority of people, Catholics or otherwise, have, at best, a very limited understanding of the actual needs of the Church or of the strengths and weaknesses of those who might be elected pope.Even if someone does somehow have all the requisite knowledge to make an informed decision, to what end is it unless they happen to be one of the Cardinal-electors?

How many more prayers could be offered if all the time spend indulging idle curiosity were spent praying?

Why not, indeed?

The problem is that he is an American which reduces his chances as it does all Americans. Never forget, the Cardinals are a product of the society in which they live. Their training and advancement in Holiness may go a long way to modify that. But in the end, most socities (nations) in the world today, from which these Cardinals come, are anti-American and socialistically bent.

From the leading African Papali who is strongly socialistic, to the majority of Cardinals who are from Europe who are all socialistically bent, you have an anti-American mind set. That despite the fact that several Popes in the past have at least mildly condemned socialism. But note, socialism in Europe is cloaked with a patina of "social justice" so they don't believe they are socialists at all.

Burke is quite a decent man, and lives in Italy. He is a polyglot, and speaks Latin fluently, so he is definity Vatican City material more than American by now.

As for the socialism part, well, all I can say is to repeat the words of Pope Pius XI in Quadragesimo Anno, "No man can at the same time be a devoted Catholic and a sincere Socialist."
