It's like condom use for prostitutes -- it's still a sin and gravely wrong -- although for those who are going to sin anyway without thought of trying to not sin, it may be lessened in it's severity of sin.

Not exactly correct. The Pope's infallibility is not restricted to matters specified in the bible. His infallibility applies to all matters of faith and morals when he teaches as Pope or makes a formal ruling as such on matters of faith and morals.

As an example, Mary's assumption into heaven can be found no where in the bible. But Pope Pius XII infallibly declared that to be the case in 1958.

Pope John Paul II infallibly declared that the Church has no authority to ordain Women to the priesthood. Although the biblical roots of that teaching are indicated in the Bible, no where does the Bible specifically say that.
