It is easy to calculate the positions of the sun and the moon at a specific time two tousand years back or forwards in time with modern computer programs.

The fact that the moon was said to be red makes a eclipse impossible because during a eclipse the moon is what's covering the sun and blocking the light making it dark. Thick clouds can effectively block light from the sun too, making it very dark. I'd say this is likely what happened. The moon didn't become red either. The moon doesn't produce any light by itself but reflects light from the sun. Something interfered with that normal white light, only allowing red spectrum of the light to be visible. That can be a lot of materials.

God most likely didn't breake any of His natural laws for those signs to happen. Of course He can but He didn't have to as far as I understand it.

So,are you saying this occurred naturally?

That is something we most likely won't know during this life.

Keep in mind that God knew the precise moment Jesus would be born and the precise moment He would die long before the first atom of hydrogen in this universe existed. He certainly COULD have created the laws of nature and the characteristics of physical matter such that the natural phenomena that marked Christ's birth and death occurred without His direct intervention to change their states. However, this doesn't mean that is what God actually DID. In fact, it's possible the events that people observed never actually occurred but rather were divinely initiated hallucinations

The darkening of the sun - thick clouds blocking the sun has happened before and is a perfectly natural occurrence.

The reddening of the moon - happens very often when the moon is close to the horizon and only the long (red) wavelengths of the light passes through the atmosphere. The same phenomena is the red sunset.

A possible earthquake - too common and occurs on a daily basis all over the planet.

All this happening at the same time? Statistically it's bound to happen at some point. I'm quite sure God knew when this point in time was. If needed be, God moving some clouds to darken Jerusalem isn't really breaking any of His laws of nature.
