Thank you for your prayers and advice all of you. I was able to get through to the specialist's office this morning ( i had been trying a few times last week before and i was only getting their voicemail and they weren't returning my voicemail) I was told by email reply to stay on a gluten free diet until my appointment so another answer to prayer! Thank you!!!

Thank you. And thankfully i hadn't switched yet! Thank you Christy for your answers regarding GF in Canada. I am finding that it is more common here than the statistics seem to say, meaning i meet people who know people who have it. And the variety in my city is not too bad for grocery stores. Here the is cost between $ 6-7.49 for a loaf of bread though sad . And i pay about $7.00 for 4 muffins. But it is yummy. I was concerned about the damage and my iron levels so thank you for prayer i can now stay on GF until the appt having finally got through to the specialist's office.

Thank you Jeanette, I have the book Wheat belly. There were a couple books that led me to the celiac information. Wheat belly gave me good information on why wheat does this. Are you eating dairy?? There is also a book i have called Whitewash, a red book with a cow on it's cover. It is a milk version of wheat belly. It is an eyeopener about milk too. If you haven't seen it take a peak online at it.

Now to wait until May!! And pray!

Praying Praying

You've done a lot of the work already by finding out what happens when you cut out gluten - you feel better without it. Hang in there, I'll keep your biopsy in my prayers.

(Quote) Lisa-801067 said:Hi and thank you for reading my prayer request. When i joined Catholic Match last year i was eating everywhere and everything but something wasn't right. I wondered if it was a gluten issue because i had to slowly stop eating certain cereals. I tested for Celiac Disease through blood-work, negative was my answer. I still wondered though if it was celiac. I followed the advice of my physician and decided to go gluten free for a few weeks and see what would happen. During that time i went to Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Toronto. I couldn't got to the actual Lourdes so i thought here was the best i could do. I prayed, just help me find out what is wrong with me is what i asked. I went shortly after to do another set of bloodwork. I was there to check my iron levels and other things. I knew my paper had the Celiac panel test on it again but i wasn't going to do it and pay for it again. I had intended to ignore that part of the requisition. The lab tech did not mention it either or the charge for it so i forgot all about it. I received a new letter from the lab and ignored it. I knew i had paid my last lab bill so i just didn't want to open it. I would call and resolve it later thinking it was related to the first test. I then go and see my physician to discuss my iron levels. They were better, doubled actually. Thankfully the diet is working. I go home left with the decision to stay with the gluten free diet for life if i want or just go back to a regular one. No other news. This was a Thursday. The following Monday i get a call from my physicians office. I had tested possibly positive for Celiac, I could be sent for a biopsy to confirm if i wanted. i had just been there though, what changed??? I went back to see my physician. The test ( i thought wasn't being done) had found endomysial antibodies, my physician said they changed the test so now i had a positive reading. That's good news it solves my problems almost. I had prayed to find out what is wrong, I am now on my way to being confirmed Celiac. I have a specialist to see in May to have a biopsy ordered. I have concerns. I have already been on a gluten free diet for about 2 months, If my body heals too fast there will be no Celiac to detect. Gluten has to cause damage so that Celiac can be diagnosed. On a GF diet the body heals. No gluten ingested , no intestinal damage, and that means it gets missed in a biopsy. I have to return to a regular diet again before i see the specialist to perform the biopsy to confirm my diagnosis. I fear my iron levels will drop again, a side effect of Celiac. They were in the deficient range and are now in the low-normal range, I hope that won't happen. I knew i needed to request prayer but i didn't know where to do it. I found this and I am now here doing it. Please pray for me. This is a lifetime diagnosis, it will change what i am able to eat for the rest of my life. Whomever God has for my life as a spouse will be affected by this if Celiac is confirmed. I want to freak out but i have to trust. Please pray for this with me. Thank you for reading this.

God bless you.

Thank you

Lisa,

Going Gluten Free after the initial shock is not as bad as you think and you will be healthier and live longer because of it. Another side effect of Celiac Disease is that you are prone to certain cancers if you do not eliminate gluten form you diet. This is not to scare you, it's the reality. Get healthy, stay healthy and don't cheat on the diet, it's all in the state of mind. Eat simple foods and stay away from the bread substitutes.

Lisa, sorry to hear all this.

I am gluten intolerant too, and living gluten free is so hard that I am not doing it at present! boggled

But I do strongly feel that you will be fine if you follow what you need to do.

The Good Lord put all kinds of food on this earth that do not involved milling and baking. We can live without it.
