Yep everyone wants a free ride but the problem is if everyone is getting a free ride who will be left to pay for it. They send jobs overseas, they bring in more folks to work technical jobs here instead of training people who live hear already what about giving them the means to get the education, those that do work they tax to death and can't even tell us how much and what the new healthcare system will cover and cost.

Praying Thank you Paul for this. You sound like a very wise and experienced man in the financial arena which unfortunately I am not:)

Just one more comment on this thread. I am not bashing any president personally if it's directed towards me for being an Obama bashing thread.

I believe Obama is a decent person if you don't judge his moral ideations, but as a Christian I don't think I could have the conscious myself voting for someone who is anti life, anti Catholic, anti marriage, and anti hard working American people!!!! Just saying, I just keep my Faith in God and in God We Trust!

Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. Luke 23:34 rosary theheart

We would be better off setting up a forum section for preparing to be able to survive stationary, as the "preppers" do. Of course, that was fun in the Y2k time period since it was fairly inexpensive then to obtain generators, and food storage materials but it is certainly less do-able with our increasing ages. Remember, our highways all belong to the government, our phone lines and conversations as well as internet communication are all legally ensured to keep our privacy nil with both phone and internet communication being compiled in files by the government if we are pro-firearms and freedom. Both will be shut down for use only by the government if there is a loss of our freedom. i admit that i am in fairly good physical health considering the fact that most of the meat we imbibe is filled with antibiotics since the cattle can't digest the corn any better than we can, the fruits and vegetables are altered mutations and poisoned by pesticides, plus any necessary medications are now only obtainable by prescription, but let's be realistic. If the country loses our freedom entirely since the majority have called for socialism to live off of others, wherever we are, we are stuck. There will be no leaving the country and probably no leaving each of our counties either.
You forgot to mention that the Government took away our 100 Watt light bulbs.

That interferes with good vision and reading ability at night.

Too much Government in America......The Government should spend its
time learning how to balance a checkbook, like the rest of America has to do.

I am so glad you posted that article about the Cardinal who spoke out against
Obama. There seems to be no one who can oppose the President of the
free world.

A black African religious man has just the right amount of authority to do so. And he
did it. Thank heavens.

The problem with doing away with the old incandescent lamps is that the main push is to replace them with those florescent ones. All of which are far more dangerous to the environment the the old ones.

But look into the LED lamps. They provide more than adequate lighting. Unfortunately they are very expensive. The effect on your electric bill is dramatically lower than either of the others.

If more people bought and used them, the price would drop. And the overall quality will improve.

When you buy them, be sure to buy only name brands. I got some off brands at a very low price, but they burned out and produced dramatically less light than they started out at.

It is just exhausting reading all the back and forth. Some just want to hear themselves talk on the subject, now what was the question again? Is America going downhill at an alarming rate? Answer: It isn't. The question is not ....Is President Obama doing a good or bad job, is it? It is not any worse now than during any other administration. Some answers sound like a bad Thanksgiving dinner conversation to me. I am so thankful the younger generation does not have trouble with the greatest Commandment, remember, Love one another as I have loved you and love your neighbor as yourself. Remember, we all have free will? Judge and you shall be judged. We live in a country with a two party system. Thank God for that. Don't like who won😢, vote them out, just as I did! 😀

Regina:

St. Thomas More forum is not for everyone, especially since you find it like bad
dinner conversation.

I am just surprised, as a catholic, you see nothing wrong with the direction America
has been taking.

Since you were born, there have been millions upon millions of unborn babies
murdered in the safety of their mother's womb with the blessings of our
Government.

Your one liners are many, but logic is quite missing.

Paul, I am glad you find the new florescent bulbs to your satisfaction. I have not
been able to do so. I am really upset about this ruling.

I only need a few 100 watt bulbs around where I read and paint. So I really did
not worry about my electric bill.

But greater minds ruled.

Yes you said it! Roe vs. Wade was in 1973 if I am correct. The point is its been happening for quite some time. And you, just like any other person out there has free will to make their own decisions. Many times God doesn't like our decisions either but He gives us free will. Sorry but I think it was very uncharitable with your post towards the post above yours. Stop judging people and love more.
