It may only be when we cut and paste as opposed to typing a post, but apostrophes and quotation marks vanish when we click "Submit Post."

I typed that obviously and it included the quote marks, but cut & paste apparently is a problem. Sorry if this has been covered before.

I have the same problem. One way to fix it is insert html code, but it's just too much work. I have to use it to make text breaks though; the posts are so hard to read without it.

Hi Peter,

If you're using a Microsoft program, like Word or Works, since they use a different character set than most websites any character that isn't recognized disappears when submitted.

By writing your text in a program that isn't made by Microsoft, you can avoid losing characters. I usually use Word Pad or Note Pad, which comes standard on most computers.

Thank you Debbie, I was using Microsoft Word. I think it's a 2008 edition which may be part of the problem but I'll avoid that.

I think the criteria you want is a text-only editor (such as Notepad) or a lightweight RTF editor (Wordpad) vs. a full-blown word processing program (Word; others that may have similar problems are LibreOffice Writer, OpenOffice Writer, WordPerfect, etc.)

BTW -- Notepad and Wordpad are also made by Microsoft, or at least they ship as standard components of Windows.

Thank you Debbie and Jerry!I have Notepad, and yes it is a Microsoft product. I will try cutting and pasting from there and see if the paragraph "breaks" transfer also. It would be so nice :)
