The article was too idealistic. But as you suggested, if both husband and wife tried to act more the way the article stated, the marriage would be better.
What got me was the statement in capital letters - she doesn't have too stay with you - Neither a man or a woman "has" to stay. But Christians believe in marriage and in keeping promises. That's why I said the article contained a conditional view of love inconsistent with the Gospel. 'don't get me wrong, a man should want to make his wife happy (or happier) out of love. But it should not be that he is afraid she will leave him if he does not cater to her every want.
