"We both wanted to get married in New Orleans; and so we did, at the Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church on December 13th, 2003"
A friend of mine, Thomas Kelly, recommended that I join StRaphael.net. Since Thomas had always given me good advice in the past and was one of the people who introduced me to the Catholic faith, I did so.
Right away, I began to correspond with some very wonderful people. Eventually, Pete-9178 and I started browsing each other. I'd been through Oklahoma City before and wrote to him that I'd gone to a church with glass walls that was surrounded by giant cement angels and to a steak house that had a dance floor and live western band. He wrote back that the church was St Patrick's and the restaurant was Cimmaron. At the time, my profile mentioned that I was taming a wild mule and that I used to do medieval fighting. Pete wrote that he needed more information because he had an image of me in armor on a mule that he just couldn't shake.
Eventually, we started talking on the phone. Then he took a long weekend… and drove 800 miles on a Friday to see me in Montgomery. I took him on a whirlwind tour of the town & countryside; we went to a Shakespeare play, Much Ado About Nothing, to the beach…all over. He was soooo tired, and he had to drive all the way back to Oklahoma on Monday; so he could make it back to work on Tuesday. But he did it.
The next month, a friend of mine from church, Anita Decker, took a trip to Oklahoma City to see her brother (I pestered her into it). Pete and I got to see each other again.
Then he flew to Montgomery to see me. Then we went back and forth for several more months. Finally, he came to Montgomery, we rented a truck & he packed me up and moved me to Oklahoma. He told my mother that if I wasn't happy, he would bring me home.
About five months later, he proposed. We both wanted to get married in New Orleans; and so we did, at the Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church on December 13th, 2003, the feast day of Saint Lucy.
