Ballad powerhouse Josh Groban recently released his newest studio album, “Illuminations.” Most famous for his inspirational song “You Raise Me Up” and his many appearances on Oprah, Groban’s voice has impressed millions around the world.
For this album he decided to part ways with long-time producer David Foster and instead work with former rocker Rick Rubin to create this 13-song compilation.
This release comes three years after his 2007 Christmas record, “Noel,” sold 5 million copies, making it the best-selling album for the entire year.
In the weeks before the CD release, several songs were posted online through a viral marketing blitz, including “Higher Window,” Groban’s personal favorite song on the album, as well as mine. These lyrics flowing through Josh Groban spoke directly to me:
“I drew my line across the sand
And set my flag in no-man’s-land
But here I am, the one man band
With a song that’s meant for two.”
The song continued with the refrain:
“Because there is a light from a higher window
Shining down on us tonight.”
The idea that a light from a higher window is guiding us, shaping us and leading us through each of our life journeys, including our search for a future spouse, reminded me that there is in fact one who does just that every day.
This holiday season, give this dynamite singer a chance to reach out to you wherever you are in your life and remind you that a “higher window” is always overhead.
