Are you a single Catholic? Meet Your Match Today [close]

Single Living

For the fourth day of Christmas we’re spotlighting Marian-83994.

What were the greatest blessings of 2010?

Having had the opportunity to work with alcoholics, drug addicts and people in crisis and helping to offer hope and make a difference in their lives.

Another great blessing has been to find more depth in prayer while saying the 54-day novena with other CatholicMatchers.

How has your approach to finding a mate evolved?

I initially thought finding a mate online would be much simpler to achieve than it actually is. I now view the online and in-real-life process with a healthy skepticism because I believe that more factors must align to bring about a good fit.

I think forum involvement enhances anyone’s experience on CatholicMatch, and I recommend that. However, I’ve simplified my attitude; my approach on the forums is to enjoy myself and help others to do the same.

What’s your CatholicMatch strategy?

I check the forums daily because I enjoy the banter among members. I look up profiles about one time a week. I occasionally send an emotigram to a new member to welcome him.

My strategy is to create an atmosphere where I can talk to anyone and they can talk to me, instead of having an attitude of formality and standoffishness. I routinely invite men to the forum so they can enjoy everyone.

Why do you stay on CatholicMatch?

I stay on CatholicMatch because I have a need to be with other singles who have a common culture of beliefs, traditions, perspectives and practices. I love to learn what people are thinking.

CatholicMatch has helped me deepen my faith. I believe I’m part of an online community of committed Catholics.

What’s your favorite Christmas tradition?

Baking and cooking, caroling and songs, decorations, candles and lights, and being with family, sharing laughter.

Ukrainians have something called “Kutya,” which is wheat kernels with honey, and it is eaten on Christmas Eve. It symbolizes Jesus as the Bread of Life. Also, the Ukrainian choral piece ”Carol of the Bells” is one of my favorites.

What’s your hope for 2011?

My hope for 2011 is to find rewarding and inspirational work and to get closer to reaching career and personal goals. I hope to raise my quality of life while extending myself to raise the quality of life for others.

Also, I would like to get nearer to finding a man to share many things with.

Make a prediction for 2011.

  1. I predict that two to five more women who live in the Midwest and South will become wives.
  2. The Giants will win the World Series again in 2011.

Marian — this came as no surprise. As one who is continually in the forefront, you have contributed a great deal of wisdom and common sense to the forums. You have also displayed creativity by starting a number of your own threads on a variety of topics. Probably the most popular was the “baketress” theme where many of us not-so-handy in the kitchen received delicious goodies from the ladies. I know that you have had personal situations which could have left you with a negative attitude here, but that hasn’t been the case. Glad you were selected for the 12 Days theme. :)
