It’s been proven time and again on CatholicMatch that enthusiasm for online dating is not a prerequisite for success. The archives of our success stories are filled with examples of men and women who had deep doubts about using this medium to meet new people, yet found themselves paired with the love of a lifetime nonetheless. Today we turn our attention to the East Coast, where couples in Florida and Connecticut were the latest examples of skeptics turned into believers.
Alberto overcame initial skepticism to put his profile online, but as soon as he saw from friends on the site he removed his picture, lest he be embarrassed. But instead of giving up on the whole concept, he adopted a different approach — “I knew if I was going to meet someone without a picture my profile had to be poetically spectacular, sincere and filled with grace.”
His profile was written well enough to attract Marling, who was also located in the Miami area. They shared a first date at an Adoration Chapel and that was the keynote to a relationship that would be filled with many more adventures and even included starting an entrepreneurial venture together. They are planning for their future together and excited about what lies ahead — and in case anyone is curious, Alberto did e-mail Marling a picture prior to their first date.
Mark was no less skeptical about finding someone in an online dating site and even after creating a profile, he wasn’t particularly serious about using the site. A wink and a smile — online style — changed his mind.
Kristine sent him a wink and he winked back. They’ve been exchanging real-life winks and smiles for over a year now. “We just thought we would find email buddies on here until we discovered each other,” Mark told CatholicMatch. “It’s been awesome ever since.”
And in between Connecticut and Florida, there is the success story of Ricardo and Patricia, shown in the photo above. Their first date was love at first sight. They still waited and made sure those initial feelings were real, but after a year together he proposed and she accepted. Congratulations to them, to Mark and Kristine and Alberto and Marling. And to all others seeking and finding that special someone on CatholicMatch.
