It took Crispin a little while to warm up to the idea of joining CatholicMatch. Constant reminders from a friend eventually persuaded him to create a free profile and at least check the site out. He liked what he saw and upgraded to full membership.
Crispin went on to make good use of his membership. Whether it was through regular participation in the message forums or going out to events, or just plain browsing profiles and reaching out, he made himself available. He kept his expectations realistic the first time he made contact with Jennifer and didn’t think it was the end of his search.
Though they only lived about twenty minutes apart in southern California, Crispin and Jennifer took their time in getting to know each other online. They spent four months in electronic correspondence before taking the show to the real world. Upon meeting her, Crispin knew he had found someone special—“When we had our first date it confirmed that she really was this amazing, incredible, intelligent fun and genuine woman…neither of us wanted the first date to end.”
Like any successful relationship, Crispin and Jennifer found a chemistry that transcended their numerous common interests and both found within them a deep desire to help the other person grow and be the best they could possibly be. They became inseparable, and spent team getting to now each other, spending time with friends and growing their relationship.
They may live fairly close, but both of them have pondered the question if they might have met each other more conventionally. Crispin feels the answer is self-evident. “The ability of the Internet made it possible for us to meet but it was our faith that truly brought us together.”
It’s an apt statement for the role CatholicMatch can play. The success stories range from couples who were in the same parish, but never knew each other to those—like Matthew and Janette—who crossed the Pacific Ocean. But what all of them have in common is a willingness to cooperate with Divine Providence. God supplies opportunity and CatholicMatch can be that vehicle, but in the end it’s the couple who must work to take that opportunity and forge it into a new productive relationship.
Crispin and Jennifer’s relationship has led them to marriage. He went through the process of getting his previous marriage annulled and they began a new life together. “I can honestly say I’ve never been this in love before,” he gratefully told CatholicMatch.
