Amy was skeptical of the idea of paying to join a social networking site. Even after seeing the CatholicMatch ad in her parish bulletin, she let it sit for three months. But the 33-year-old schoolteacher from Eastern Ohio eventually relented and joined the site this April. It didn’t take long for her to get results.
Brian was the one Amy made the connection with. A 30-year-old going to school for his marketing degree, he’s passionate for working out, sports and music. He and Amy met for a date in early May, and the immediately felt comfortable with each other.
“You know how some dates feel like ’20 Questions,'” Amy told CatholicMatch. “This was the exact opposite.” The conversation flowed freely and naturally, with both just feeling comfortable and having fun in each other’s presence.
They also found an odd coincidence binded them. They had each been in a car accident with a Grand Prix auto, yet both escaped with nary a scratch. “We both had guardian angels watching over us,” Amy recalled.
A down-to-earth animal lover who is close to her dog Roxy and her family, Amy shares Brian’s optimism for the future. They have continued to date steady, and their days are filled with text messages and phone calls. The joy they’ve found these past two months have left them convinced they have something special in each other. Amy freely describes Brian as compassionate, in addition to his good sense of humor and their common interests.
It’s too soon to know what the future ultimately holds for Amy and Brian, but they believe that God is overseeing this all and drawing them closer together. In fact, Brian has been convinced from their very first meeting that they were meant to be together. Amy’s own belief wasn’t far behind. And Amy’s previous skepticism of social networking? It’s safe to say she’s a believer now.
“I have never been more happy,” she said. “I have found the love of my life.”
