It was just a few weeks after Andrea joined CatholicMatch that she found what seemed to the be the ideal mate. A long-distance relationship started and lasted nearly two years…but in this case, it’s not where the success story goes.
Andrea’s long-distance relationship ended with a bad break-up.
“It inspired me to swear off dating,” she told CatholicMatch. “I closed my CatholicMatch account as well. God, however, had other plans.”
A job opened up near her hometown and Andrea accepted the opportunity to teach at a Catholic high school and moved closer to home. The following Easter she was at Mass with her family and saw the CatholicMatch ad in the parish bulletin. Andrea decided the time was right to renew her account.
She got back into the flow of online communication with ease, and within an hour she was chatting with David, who lived a short 20-minute drive away.
“I quickly learned that he was also a teacher and that he is an alumnus of the high school she was teaching at.”
With the coincidences that mark God’s path at hand, she took the unusual step of giving him her phone number the same night and they made plans to have dinner in Highland, his hometown.
The date didn’t get off to a great start—Andrea got lost. “I blame my GPS!” she said afterward, and David came out to get her five minutes from the restaurant. Fortunately, dates aren’t measured by how they start, but how they finish. They held hands often throughout dinner and a special relationship was underway.
“One year later, to the hour, we were sitting at the same table in the same restaurant,” Andrea recalled. “He held my hand once more and proposed. A year and a half later we were married.”
The success hasn’t stopped for Andrea and David. They now have a three-week old son Camden in their lives. And they haven’t stopped helping other singles. A couple they introduced to each other are getting married two weeks from now. All because Andrea came back and gave the CatholicMatch community a second chance.
