We spotlight Sandra on this third day of Christmas.
What have been the greatest blessings of 2011?
There were so many blessings in 2011, but one in particular stands out. This past June I had the opportunity to make a fourth trip to the Czech Republic. It included a side trip to Auschwitz and Krakow in Poland. This time my youngest sister, her oldest child (my Goddaughter) and her mother-in-law joined me.
It was a fantastic trip visiting a place I love and seeing it through their eyes, especially through the eyes of my 11-year-old niece. The wonder in her eyes at seeing all the churches, gardens, castles and other historical sites was a beautiful sight to behold.
How has your approach to finding a mate evolved?
At first I really perused the profiles. Lately not so much. I do occasionally read through profiles and also the ones under the “Looking For Me” tab, but I am not totally comfortable making the first contact beyond a browse. I want him, whoever he is, to do the real pursuing.
The same goes for offline. I may smile, glance and make small talk to show interest, but I want him to make that first serious contact.
What’s your CatholicMatch strategy?
I try to participate in the forums, because I feel I can get a decent read on someone’s behavior there.
Also I try to go to events as my schedule and pocketbook allow. So far, though, they have only allowed for three: one in Corpus Christi, one on Mackinac Island and part of an event in San Antonio.
Lastly, I try to occasionally read through profiles and send out some comments.
Why do you stay on CatholicMatch?
I stay here on CatholicMatch not only because of the potential to meet my match but because of the friendships I’ve made, the educational tidbits I’ve discovered that have led me to greater research about my faith and, quite frankly, the camaraderie of the site.
What’s your favorite Christmas tradition?
My tree is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. Back in about 1975 or so, my mom started giving us kids (I am the oldest of five) a special ornament on which she wrote the year and the place we were stationed at the time.
To this day she still does this, even though Dad’s been retired for 23 years. I love putting each of them on my tree and recalling those times.
What’s your hope for 2012?
My hope for 2012 is to improve – be it spiritually, physically or financially.
Make a prediction for 2012.
Life will go on and hopefully I will have a special guy to share it with!
