Merry Christmas! As a year-end gift for this special online community, we’ve again prepared “The CatholicMatch 12 Days Of Christmas.” (Check out last year’s here.)
It began with a simple request to nominate CatholicMatch members who have wisdom or wit to share and, hence, deserve a little spotlight. We were amazed by how many nominations poured in! What a blessing that you think so highly of each other.
We tallied votes in the forums and by email, and 12 winners emerged. We’ll feature one each day of the Christmas season (beginning today), asking the same set of questions. We hope you’ll be informed and inspired, entertained and edified.
We’re happy to begin with Deborah.
What were the greatest blessings of 2011?
My greatest blessings are my faith and my family. This year will mark my third Christmas in Colorado, after a long decade of living 800 miles away from my children. It took a big leap of faith to relocate, and my reward has been the joyous blessing of living in their lives again. Watching my grandchildren grow through every stage of their little lives has been so precious to me.
How has your approached to finding a mate evolved?
I do not really have a defined approach as far as seeking a mate. I don’t use any of CatholicMatch’s search features, for instance. The influence of generations of southern women in my family while I was growing up is very strong in this regard: It is he that must find me.
What’s your CatholicMatch strategy?
The friends I have been so blessed to find here are all people I have interacted with on the forums. It is my opinion that participating in the forums is the best and quickest way to meet people here.
Why do you stay on CatholicMatch?
The friends I have made here and the strong sense of community keep me renewing my
CatholicMatch membership. Where else can I ask for prayers and have that request fulfilled so richly?
What’s your favorite Christmas tradition?
Midnight Mass is my favorite Christmas tradition, along with the weekly lighting of the Advent candles. Spending Christmas Day with my family is still a fairly new tradition and one that I treasure.
What is your hope for 2012?
My hopes for 2012 are the same as my prayers: that my family continue to be blessed with health, love for one another, and peace and prosperity in their lives, all while trusting God to keep us on the right path for our individual journeys home.
Make a prediction for 2012.
For 2012 I predict that the New Orleans Saints will win another Super Bowl…I will be another year older…and the friendships that have been formed here will still be strong. If my hunch is correct a couple of CatholicMatch love birds I know will become engaged.
