You Might Be A Catholic If… (VIDEO)

Have you ever included your confirmation name when someone asks you what your full name is?

“Catherine Teresa Maria Goretti Simpson”

Did your mother ever send you out trick-or-treating dressed up as the pope? Do you say a Hail Mary when you hear an ambulance siren? If you’ve answered yes to any of the questions above, you might be a Catholic.

As a cradle Catholic, I remember all kinds of things that happened in my family growing up that I didn’t see happening in non-Catholic families, like whenever I complained about something my parents would always tell me to “offer it up!” That was their way of saying, “Get over it, already!”

And there was one Sunday where my older brother and I drove to 9 am Sunday Mass. We were late because we were goofing off and we arrived after the reading of the Gospel. When we got home, my mother asked us what the Gospel reading was about and since we couldn’t tell her, she made us drive all the way back to church to be on time for the 11:30 am Mass and hear the Gospel.

Ah, yes, being Catholic is a unique experience in life and one that, these days, is getting tougher and tougher to live out. Not only does the media and society make living as a faithful Catholic sound ridiculous (even insane at times) but we are losing our religious freedoms at a stunning rate. So, as you fight the good fight, my friends, you’ve got to laugh! That’s why I made this little video, especially for you and hopefully a kick-start to injecting some good humor into your day.

Dating, love, marriage, single living, Catholicisim. All serious matters that need to be balanced with humor and the fun side of things. We need to be able to laugh at the idiosynchrocies of our Catholic culture. As Father Jim Martin so aptly put it, “Humor is attractive… humor is healing… and humor adds perspective.” So go on guys! LOL!

In fact, when I worked, I used to have people coming to me saying that so and so said that you do something to help people find things……”Would you do that thing you do, I lost this or that and I really need to find it and they told me you have a way to find it.”….the word got around that I prayed to St. Anthony and he would help me find things that were lost. You wouldn’t believe how many non-catholics would call me for the prayer to St. Anthony when they lost something……lol

we would say “today is saturday & tomorrow is sunday then do the sign of the cross.” Of course in Italian, it sounds much better lol 🙂
I always ask St Anthony for help in finding something too and tell others, even if they’re not catholic.

when i read the story about the children whose mother turned back to go to church to be in time to hear the Gospel … i said to myself then im still on the right track ..i always tell my children that u have not celebrated mass in toto if u miss the gospel!!! hooray long live catholism… and on the issue of baptism names and confirmation i have actually shifted mine to be used as first name and my first child wasnt given a baptism and confirmation name becos i was still young and had not understood the importance of being named after the saints and martyers… when he turned 21 i gave him and saint name….because his identity was not complete,,,saints names change who you are and you are blessed right throughout your liffe…. St . Jude pray for me!!!
