Single Living

Steve’s spiritual journey has been a downward slope ever since confirmation. Settling into a serious relationship, and then marriage, with someone who did not value her faith didn’t help. With the end of his marriage and the pursuit of an annulment, the 30-year-old Wisconsin native has been given a chance to reflect and re-route. Joining CatholicMatch was part of that journey.

“Over the past several years I have strayed from my faith and need to get back on the right path,” he wrote in his profile intro.

“After getting out of a long, unhealthy relationship, I found myself evaluating what I wanted out of life for me and my daughter,” Steve told CatholicMatch. “I feel that, with someone who has a solid Catholic foundation it will help foster a loving and spiritual family. I turned to CatholicMatch to help me find that person. I believe it is very important that I find someone with a strong Catholic faith to help raise my daughter.”

By winter, Steve ice fishes. Here he's pictured with a 42-inch Northern that weighed 23 pounds.

Steve joined CatholicMatch on March 2 and he’s glad he did. “I’m impressed by the caliber of women,” he said.

Already Steve credits CatholicMatch with spurring personal growth.

“I’ve learned there are a lot more people out there who are looking for the same thing I am than I initially thought,” he said. “It has also helped me gain a perspective on what I am looking for out of life and a relationship. I hope this leads to a spiritually and emotionally fulfilling life for me and my daughter.”

When Steve isn’t working as a senior network engineer in the computer industry, the avid angler and hunter is usually outside. “Being outdoors helps me feel closer to God. With so much beauty out there, it’s hard to believe it was created by chance.”

In the summer Steve works on a trout and salmon charter boat on Lake Michigan, out of Kenosha, Wis. His favorite fishing spot is in Eagle River, where he has a cabin.

He also loves a good motorcycle trip. His longest was 3,500 miles. “By the end of that trip,” he said, “I was ready to go back to work!”
