A great way to help the healing process along is to find things to be thankful for. Some reasons to be grateful are easy to identify, but once you exhaust that list, it takes more effort to define the blessings in your life and it can be even harder if your heart is tied up with resentment.
One stubborn stumbling block to finding gratitude in the midst of difficulty is envy. Being envious of others is a tremendous waste of time and energy. Each day we wake up, breath and live is a gift from God. Why waste it all in being consumed with jealousy? It is pointless, and even more so, it does nothing to help you heal, move on, or ultimately, get to heaven.
If you are struggling with jealousy, release your grip on it. Let it go and focus on the good things you have in your life.
The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself”. – Romans 13:9
