Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

I have a friend who is very worried and anxious most of the time. She often checks into a day-spa for massages, facials, etc., looking for a way to calm down and feel more relaxed. Isn’t this much the same way the world dictates how to find peace? Through self-indulgent behavior, appeasing ourselves and staying away from those people and situations that we don’t like. But peace can never truly be found through pursuing a self-serving life. Sure, you may find enjoyment in these things (and hey, I love a good massage myself, from time to time) but there is no lasting peace in self-indulgence. Why? Because we weren’t made for this earth and its imperfection, we were made for God and to live with Him in heaven. Try this simple exercise: Instead of putting yourself in the center of your world and ordering all your relationships, responsibilities and interests around you, place God in the center of your world and try ordering all that you have around Him. With Christ in the center, you will have His perfect love as your motivation in all you do and the peace you will receive… incredible. With God as your focus, and having all your life’s components focused on Him, nothing will be able to disturb you because your foundation will be His perfect love for you! “Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace which the world cannot give, this is my gift to you.

Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. – John 14:27
