Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

Anger is a God-given emotion. It’s a completely normal reaction to things or circumstances that threaten our physical, emotional or spiritual wellbeing. However, you don’t have to allow your emotions to run your life and become a victim of your own emotions. As Kayla said, “Will I allow my divorce to drag me down, lose all hope, all trust, and become bitter? Or will I let my pain motivate me to move forward, to learn some lessons about life, to search for hope in my future?”

St. John Vianney was known for channeling his anger. He would take great care in the presence of whoever was frustrating him to be calm and charitable. But if you looked closely, you would see a twisted, knotted handkerchief in his hands that received all the punishment!

But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be the sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. – Matthew 5: 44-45
