Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

Like any other traumatic life event, divorce leaves behind the residue of bad memories connected to painful emotions. Some people cling tightly to these memories using them as a shield against future hurts. “I’ll never let myself be that foolish/trusting/vulnerable again!” Some people desperately want to free themselves from the chains of the bad memories but don’t know how to do this.

The next time you are confronted with bad memories, lay it all down at the foot of the cross. Literally – try to imagine yourself laying an armful of heavy stones down at Christ’s feet as He hangs on the cross and give it all to Him. Let Him take them all from you and give you peace in return. This is something you can do each and every time you remember the things that bring you down… Let Jesus bring you the healing and peace in a way that only He can do.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. – John 14:27
