Summertime is a simple time. A time to relax, a time to rest, a time to enjoy and be carefree. For people who are divorced, it’s not easy to find this simple type of relaxation or rest that summertime begs. You still must work, you still must meet your obligations, and you still must deal with the emptiness and pain of your situation. It was very often during the summer my divorce was taking place and those thereafter that I wished to be a child again, without knowing the harsh reality that comes with being an adult.
For those of you who are feeling this way, I would like to encourage you to go to daily mass as often as you can this summer. There is something so special about the simplicity of a quiet morning mass… an intimate crowd, no music or fuss, lots of quiet reflection, and of course the reception of the Eucharist. There is something so special about mass in this manner that cannot be expressed, only experienced. There is great healing to be had in attending weekday mass and much rest to be found in simply being present with the Blessed Sacrament.
Please count on my prayers for you each day, for your healing and your intentions!
But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. – Psalm 131:2
