Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

Divorce can feel like a sickness so terrible it makes you want to die. The pain seems to be never-ending. But God can take the most horrible situation and bring good out of it. In the same way he allowed Lazarus to die, he allowed your divorce to happen. But is it really part of God’s plan? Well, God tells us in Scripture that He “hates divorce.” But what is His will in all this is bringing us closer to Him through the pain and using the opportunity to bring good things about as a result of the bad.

Certainly, in times of great distress you might feel as if God has forgotten you, as if He has left you alone to suffer. Yet, it pains Him to see you suffering. With each cross you carry, no matter how great or small, Christ will carry you and show you a new path; a better way than the one you were on before. He wants you to experience growth, especially growing closer to Him. Trust that He will take care of you.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. – 1 Corinthians 5:17
