Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

We know that God brings good things out of suffering- that is, if we allow him to enter our lives and give us His grace. The fact is that God has allowed this to happen to you because he respects the gift of free will that he gave you. But it doesn’t mean that He doesn’t love you or that He wants you to suffer needlessly. It is precisely at this point – when bad things happen – that Christ is ready to create new, good things for you. He is simply waiting for your permission to take the situation and bring good out of it. Take your broken heart to the foot of the cross and say to Christ, “Why, Lord? Help me!” He will come down from the cross, put his arms around you and say, “I know you are suffering. I love you. And now I want to show you the way through your suffering into happiness.”

Can you not buy two sparrows for a penny? And yet, not one falls to the ground without your Father knowing. Why, every hair on your head has been counted. So there is no need to be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. – Matthew 10: 29-31
