Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

How could it ever be possible for me to love my (spouse) enemy? It may not be easy to envision, but it is possible for this to happen. Christ tells us to let love be the ruler of our hearts. Love is desiring good for others. No retaliation. No desire for revenge. No desire to see things go wrong for that person. Christ does not want you to lay down and be a doormat. No, you need to stand up for justice and do what you know is right. But in dealing with your ex-spouse, you must be charitable. Who knows, your attitude of love might even have an effect on them!

Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited, it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage; it does not take offense or store up grievances. Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth. It is always ready to make allowances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes. – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
