True love, real love, the kind we all crave is more than a wonderful feeling or powerful attraction. Love is a decision; a desire to seek the constant good of the person we love. Love is a desire to make the object of our affection happy. Now, no human love is perfect, but the goal of a loving relationship is to seek each other’s good and be ready to forgive each other’s failings along the way.
You are experiencing a breakdown that was caused by imperfect love; a relationship that was not focused on seeking the good of each of the spouses. But despite the fact that this love relationship is no longer something you can rely on, you can still experience love, and in it’s perfection, because Christ is the one who will accept you as you are and show you this love.
Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited, it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage; it does not take offense or store up grievances. Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth. It is always ready to make allowances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes. – 1 Corinthians 13:4 – 7.
