Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

Having doubts about God’s love for you? Here’s a little food for thought…

Christ loves you with a real, faithful, passionate love.

Christ is a real person, not a character in a book or movie. He is alive today, body and soul. To love someone, you have to know them. He knows you – He’s known you from all eternity. If you don’t love Christ more than some fictional character then you don’t know Him. He really did die for you and it really hurt. He really suffered so that you don’t have to suffer for all eternity.

Christ’s love is a faithful love. There are many reasons to be friends with someone; power, fame, money, etc. The only real reason that keeps people hanging around is love. Faithful love draws us together across the distance. That is the kind of love that brought Jesus down to earth as a human to die for us. Faithful love is willing to make sacrifices.

Christ’s love for you is a passionate love. Passionate love is an attraction so strong you are willing to suffer for it. You can tell how much someone loves you by the size of the sacrifice they make on your behalf. This is the kind of love we need to return to Christ.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
