Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

Are you facing a constant temptation right now? Are you tempted to go give someone a piece of your mind? Are you tempted to give in to someone pressuring you to be physically intimate? Are you tempted to do something you know is wrong?

Well, you are normal, thank goodness for that. We all face temptations on a daily basis. But you don’t have to be a victim of temptation. You can stand strong and defeat those temptations, if you use the tools you have at your fingertips.

First, say this prayer when you are feeling tempted: “Lord Jesus, let your blood wash over me and protect me from the temptations of the devil.”

Then, turn your eyes away from whatever you are being tempted by. St. Augustine says: “From the look comes the thought and from the thought comes the desire.” If your eyes are the window to your soul, let them reflect God who dwells within you.

Last, remember the devil is not as strong as a soul in the state of grace and you, coupled with God’s saving grace will win this battle.

Greater is He that is within you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).
