Cindy desired a spouse who shared her Catholic faith and values, but the search for a spouse was frustrating. “It came to the point of questioning God if there was really someone out there for me.”
33-year-old Cindy, in spite of having deep doubts about online dating gave CatholicMatch a chance.
After three years as a member, Cindy made contact with Greg in the fall of 2011. They met for the first time at a church in New York City, near where they both live. Both of them were shy at first, but as they grew to know each other, they became more comfortable.
What stood out the most to Cindy about Greg was the way he cared for his elderly mother (who has since passed away). Cindy’s mother was impressed by Greg too.
“I tell her everything,” Cindy said regarding her closeness with her mother. “From making sure I got home safe to hearing about Greg caring for his own mother, my mother was so immediately impressed.”
Greg and Cindy spent eight months in courtship getting to know each other. The enjoyed common interests like watching the Yankees play baseball and the Rangers play hockey.
Greg attended culinary school in Italy and is a first-class chef.
Greg and Cindy were convinced that God brought them together for a special purpose. They each hoped to have a marriage like their own parents, built on attending church, shared family dinners and setting a good example.
Cindy came to feel that her own path with Greg was foreshadowed in the book When God Writes Your Love Story.
Cindy gladly accepted Greg’s proposal of marriage. They will be wed in October of 2013.
“Before we met we were growing impatient with God’s plan for us,” Cindy told CatholicMatch. “Fortunately, we came to the realization that we found the right person to spend our lives with.”
